A federal judge handling an antitrust lawsuit filed by Elon Musk’s firms against Apple and OpenAI is seeking any settlement agreements that may have prompted X Corp and SpaceXAI to abandon their claims against Apple, according to POLITICO.
Judge Mark Pittman, a conservative Trump appointee based in Fort Worth, Texas, directed the Musk‑owned entities on Wednesday to produce for his review any pacts with Apple tied to the decision to dismiss the case.
The judge’s order follows a move by OpenAI to force X to reveal details of its settlement with Apple in a broader battle over control of the potentially trillion‑dollar artificial‑intelligence market.
The request to voluntarily drop the allegations was submitted without explanation, but it notes that X and SpaceXAI will keep pursuing antitrust claims against OpenAI.
The complaint accuses Apple and OpenAI of being “two monopolists joining forces to maintain their dominance” in the AI sector, including through alleged manipulation of Apple’s app‑store rankings.
The filing also highlights an exclusive 2024 agreement to embed OpenAI’s ChatGPT into Apple’s iPhone lineup, while Apple reportedly inked a new deal this year to integrate Google’s AI services into its products.
