On Thursday, a POLITICO correspondent was allowed onto the White House complex after the outlet had been turned away earlier that morning, even though a judge had ordered immediate reinstatement of access.
Theodore Boutrous Jr., representing POLITICO, CNN, and MS NOW, informed U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly that reporters from all three organizations had been denied entry despite his temporary restraining order issued earlier Thursday.
The order required the administration to restore the outlets’ credentials for at least two weeks while the case proceeds. Boutrous requested an immediate hearing on the administration’s failure to comply with the judge’s ruling.
Judge Kelly gave the Trump administration until 12:30 p.m. Eastern to respond. Just before the deadline, the White House told the court it had reinstated access for reporters from all three outlets as of 9:55 a.m., and CNN and MS NOW confirmed their journalists were now entering the grounds.
