A journalist from Politico was refused entry to the White House on Thursday, and his press credentials were confiscated, after a judge instructed the Trump administration to immediately reinstate access for news outlets that President Trump had banned.
This action occurred after reporters from Politico, CNN, and MS NOW were initially barred and had their passes seized on Saturday. U.S. District Judge Timothy Kelly issued a temporary restraining order early Thursday, requiring the administration to restore access for a minimum of two weeks while legal proceedings continue.
The Secret Service confiscated the Politico reporter’s pass on Thursday morning, blocking his entry. A Secret Service agent mentioned that the reporter was not cleared but could potentially obtain a temporary day pass, as he lacked a ‘hard pass’ for permanent access to press facilities.
A White House spokesperson did not immediately provide a response to inquiries.
