It girls, global celebrities and influencers with millions of followers descended on Fort Greene, Brooklyn for Tory Burch’s spring 2026 collection. The location was 1 Hanson Place, a former bank of majestic proportions with cathedral-like architectural details like grand arched hallways, pier columns with intricate carved capitals, and Florentine-style marble floors. And admiring the impressive venue and of course the fashion show were Ciara, Jessica Alba, Emma Roberts, Tessa Thompson and Naomi Watts, all sporting Tory Burch ensembles. That Tory commands such high wattage front row attendees speaks to how much her brand and fashion resonates with women.
Always experimenting and finessing her ideas of how American sportswear should evolve to better address how women want to dress now, Tory experimented with such fashion staples like button down shirts and cardigans, giving them exaggerated pointed collars or dusting them with seed beads to create an abstract print. Skirts and some dresses were fashioned from wrinkled lamé. There are several tailored jackets with hidden zips in the back that can alter the silhouette of the jacket with a tug of the zipper. These jackets were contrasted with kicky pleated skirts. Pants and skirts were slung low on the hips. There were chiffon dresses that gave a nod to the 1920s with their drop waists. The dresses with polkadot prints were nostalgic and refreshing at the same time.
The color palette hewed towards various shades of browns giving the clothes a touch of a retro feel. The parade of brown outfits is broken in parts by jolts of color including a fire engine red off-shoulder dress with a flowy skirt, a stunning turquoise trench coat worn with elongated tailored brown trousers, and a sunny yellow skirt with a slit in the front worn with a charcoal colored polo shirt with a paneled and rounded collar. Looking at the entirety of the collection, one cannot help but think of how these clothes would look on Hitchcock heroines if they were to grace the big screen today because they achieve the perfect balance of femininity and agency, of elegance and modernity, and of sophistication and ease.
“For Spring/Summer 2026, we were thinking about the complexity of women and different facets of their style. Femininity and strength, precision and imperfection. The clash of pristine tailoring with naïve florals, seed beading and distressed leather. We continued to reinterpret American sportswear, juxtaposed with touches of romance, sentimentality and craft,” described Tory of her collection in her show notes.
