The UFC 300 event will have top-notch presentation, and that concept extends out to the gear the main card fighters will be wearing in the Octagon.
According to multiple reports and reveals on April 9, stars like Alex Pereira, Max Holloway, Justin Gaethje, and Weili Zhang will have custom Octagon shorts for their respective battles.
Longtime combat sports journalist Ariel Helwani posted a snapshot of the kits for Pereira, Holloway, and Weili.
It’s refreshing to see the UFC allow this level of individuality for their fighters ahead of Saturday’s monumental show. It’s a fantastic way for the fighters to pay homage to their countries and culture.
Many will argue that this is an allowance that the promotion should have for every event–especially pay-per-views–considering that it is another way for fighters to build their brands.
The UFC has opted for a more uniform approach, dating back to their apparel deal with Reebok and the current supplier Venum. However, it seems restrictive for fighters not to have the freedom to express themselves with their fight gear.
It appears UFC 300 is going to be a big event for fighter gear. Rumors continue to swirl about an impending announcement about the 4-ounce gloves the combatants will wear.
An announcement is expected during the official weigh-ins to unveil the new gloves UFC fighters will be wearing moving forward. It’s unclear if the new gloves will be worn at UFC 300, but if so, that and the custom fight kits are extra elements of intrigue ahead of one of the biggest MMA cards in the sport’s history.
