Lynyrd Skynyrd is still together as a band, but their most successful releases arrived long ago. These days, the group largely remains relevant and beloved because of the singles and albums they dropped decades ago. This week, the rockers are back on a handful of Billboard charts with one of their most successful offerings–one which helps them mount a welcome comeback of sorts.
The band’s All Time Greatest Hits returns to a trio of Billboard charts this week. The compilation of many of their most popular singles was pushed off the rankings recently, as were many other titles, largely by Christmas titles. Now that the season has passed, Americans are back to buying and streaming the hits and albums they love the most–and that includes this Lynyrd Skynyrd compilation.
Lynyrd Skynyrd’s All Time Greatest Hits reappears on this week’s Billboard 200, the chart company’s ranking of the most-consumed albums in the U.S. The title is back at No. 145 after once peaking at No. 56–a surprisingly low position for a set that’s now lived on the tally for 241 frames. According to Luminate, the compilation moved another 8,724 equivalent units in the past tracking period.
The band’s compilation is also back on a pair of Billboard’s rock-only lists. These tallies use the same methodology as the Billboard 200, which incorporates sales and streaming activity to show what Americans are consuming, not just streaming or buying.
All Time Greatest Hits lands at No. 32 on the Top Rock & Alternative Albums chart after not finding space on the list last week. Lynyrd Skynyrd’s compilation earns the third-highest return of the frame, coming in behind Journey’s Greatest Hits (No. 17) and Elvis Presley’s Elv1s: 30 #1 Hits (No. 31).
The same effort also appears on the Top Rock Albums chart at No. 25. The Lynyrd Skynyrd set sits in last place on the 25-spot ranking of the most-consumed rock projects in the country, barely making it back onto the list. The title has previously risen as high as No. 8.
