Disney+ is becoming more expensive for the sixth consecutive year.
A company spokesperson confirmed to Themoneytimes that the ad-free Disney+ and Hulu plans are set to rise soon from $18.99 to $21.49 per month. Bloomberg first reported the pricing change.
Disney will increase the ad-free Disney+ and Hulu bundle to $21.99 per month, up from $19.99, the spokesperson said.
Disney is raising the price of its individual, ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu plans to $12.49 per month. The ad-supported Disney+ and Hulu bundle will remain at $12.99.
Streaming services have regularly increased their prices as major media companies work to satisfy Wall Street. Disney and Netflix have raised prices for ad-supported plans more gradually, arguing that they can earn additional revenue from those subscribers while offering customers a lower-cost option.
Peacock raised its prices in August, with its ad-free plan now costing $19.99 per month, up from $16.99, and its ad-supported tier priced at $12.99 instead of $10.99.
Netflix increased prices in March by $2 per month for its standard ad-free plan, now $19.99, and its premium 4K plan, now $26.99. Its ad-supported plan rose by $1 to $8.99 per month, tying it with Paramount+ and the stand-alone ad-supported version of Prime Video as the cheapest option among major streamers.
Apple TV increased its price to $14.99 per month in August, up from $12.99. The technology company does not offer an ad-supported tier.
Consumers have increasingly shifted to free services such as YouTube, Tubi, and The Roku Channel as streaming prices have risen in recent years.
