The iconic Ford Mustang GT3 car has been added to Assetto Corsa Competizione as a free DLC for all players on PC as part of the latest patch.
The new PC patch for Assetto Corsa Competizione adds the iconic American muscle car to the simulator and is available immediately for anyone to use completely for free, which has been welcomed by pretty much all players.
While the Mustang has only been available for a couple of hours at the time of writing, some top drivers have already been taking it for a spin. The initial reaction seems to be that the car is incredibly quick in a straight line and has a massive top speed, but it’s cornering is not as strong as some other cars. As more drivers spend more time with the car its strengths and weaknesses will no doubt be figured out, but the first impressions seem to be that this could be a very quick car without some balance changes.
There is currently no word on when the Mustang will be added to the console version of Assetto Corsa Competizione, however, for recent updates fans on Xbox and PlayStation haven’t had to wait too long to get the new goodies. The recently released Nordschleife DLC track launched on console last week, around a month after the PC release.
The patch that brought the Mustang to Assetto Corsa Competizione also made a few balance of performance changes elsewhere in the game. The changes don’t seem to be massive, with some cars getting weight changes at certain tracks where they either perform well or poorly. However, it could be enough to shake up pro events and any circuits that use custom BoP settings.
Assetto Corsa Competizione has been enjoying a surge in popularity since the release of the Nordschleife DLC, with the iconic track bringing in a lot of new and returning players. The track in Assetto Corsa Competizione is considered one of the best virtual recreations of the track and has proven to be very popular with racing fans over the last month.
While the addition of the Mustang likely won’t have quite the same effect, it is good to see more content being added despite work on Assetto Corsa Evo taking place at developers KUNOS Simulazioni. The next game in the Assetto Corsa franchise is expected to launch later this year, but other than that we know very little about what the game will be.
