Dua Lipa Blocks Herself From Scoring Another No. 1 Hit

Dua Lipa’s new album Radical Optimism is scheduled to drop in just over a month. The pop superstar has been promoting the forthcoming set for weeks with several singles, both of which have become hits in America. This frame, those two songs that have been shared from the full-length are performing very well on one specific tally, giving Lipa control over the highest two spaces on the list.

This week, Lipa sits at Nos. 1 and 2 on Billboard’s Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. The tally ranks the tunes labeled as either dance or electronic in genre– and usually both– that sold the most copies in the past tracking period throughout the U.S.

Lipa’s “Houdini” leads the charge once again on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart. The tune is a non-mover in first place on the tally, earning its fifth stay on the throne.

In the past tracking week, “Houdini” sold another 1,677 copies throughout the country, according to Luminate. That’s a small sum, but it’s still large enough to make Lipa’s recent release the bestselling dance cut in the nation. “Houdini” was actually up 10% when looking at sales compared to the tracking period prior.

Lipa collects back-to-back sales smashes as “Training Season” lifts to No. 2. The single reaches its previously-set peak on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart, narrowly missing out on becoming another No. 1 for the pop powerhouse.

The pop singer has collected a trio of No. 1 smashes on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart throughout her career. She first led the charge in 2018 when she and Calvin Harris sent “One Kiss” to the highest rung on this tally.

Lipa then doubled her total number of No. 1 wins on the Dance/Electronic Digital Song Sales chart in 2021 with what would go on to become her biggest hit on that list. She and Elton John landed a massive success with “Cold Heart (PNAU Remix),” which spent 44 weeks atop the tally.
