Rockstar’s Grand Theft Auto 6 has been plagued by leaks for years now, some massive old ones, and some smaller new ones, but after the full trailer apparently made its way online late today, they have just dropped the full GTA 6 trailer live now instead of waiting until 9 AM tomorrow like they were originally planning to.
Here it is, in all its glory, and it is way way more involved than I would say the initial GTA 5 trailer was, showing a huge scope and perhaps the most impressive part, its character tech.
We do in fact meet Lucia, who begins in prison, and we get the beginnings of her Bonnie and Clyde type story with Jason, the two long-leaked protagonists. But if you didn’t tell me that there were two protagonists in GTA 6, I would think she might be the only one judging by this trailer. There are two…right?
Also yes, it’s called GTA 6, as if that was a question, but they would never actually say that out loud until this moment.
The return to Vice City and the surrounding area is a far, far cry from Tommy Vercetti’s era. Judging by the cars, I definitely think this is meant to be present day. There is a lot of, what shall we call it, “Florida antics” seen in the trailer, the wildness of GTA mixed with the general…quirkiness of the region. This ranges from yacht parties with models to gators invading convenience stores to just a lot more twerking than I thought would be in a ninety second GTA 6 trailer. That’s gotta be a GTA 6 Online emote.
It just looks incredible. Usually the focus is on the sweeping, sprawling landscapes of GTA, but here in GTA 6, I find myself much more captivated with its actual citizens. Not just because of their weirdness, but the tech here, and not just in a lead like Lucia, looks phenomenal, and should help bring Grand Theft Auto to life in a way that we haven’t seen to date. Yes, it’s a decade after the last game, but this is a leap forward in a way I wasn’t fully expecting, even after the leaks. And it will put it ahead of many of its rivals in the space. Not that it needs the help, of course.
Finally, we have a date. Well, we have a year. That would be 2025, which will likely be spring if Take Two is still wanting it to come out in its next fiscal year, which will end in March of 2025. So that quarter is probably your window, barring any further delays.
An absolutely fantastic trailer here that is no doubt going to be viewed millions of times in a few hours and likely set some records in the industry shortly after that. And even with just a 90 second spot here, it already feels like it’s impossible GTA 6 doesn’t deliver.
