Blizzard has finally revealed the support hero who will join the Overwatch 2 roster when the Invasion season goes live on Thursday. Team 4 has yet to announce her full slate of abilities, but you might already be wondering how to unlock Illari in Overwatch 2. You’ll have three ways to do that during the season.
First, Illari will unlock instantly in all PvP modes if you buy the Season 6 premium Battle Pass. This costs 1,000 Overwatch Coins — the equivalent of $10. Along with instant access to Illari, you’ll be able to earn cosmetics on every one of the Battle Pass’ 80 levels. That includes an awesome-looking Mythic skin for Ana.
It’s worth noting that the $15 Invasion bundle, which is required to play the PvE/co-op Story Missions, includes 1,000 Overwatch coins (along with a new Legendary Sojourn skin).
Your second option to unlock Illari in all PvP modes is by leveling up the free Battle Pass. She will be unlocked at level 45. You’ll get there faster by logging in once a day to play through your daily challenges. Event challenges can be a big help too.
The third way to unlock Illari is a completely new one. When Invasion goes live on Thursday, there will be a perk available to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers called the Overwatch 2 New Heroes Starter Pack.
This will immediately unlock every hero that has been added to the game since the launch of Overwatch 2: Sojourn, Junker Queen, Kiriko, Ramattra, Lifeweaver and, of course, Illari. You’ll also get a Legendary skin for each of those heroes along with other cosmetics.
The starter pack could come in very useful for new players who have been enticed by Blizzard’s marketing blitz for Overwatch 2: Invasion or the game’s arrival on Steam. Having instant access to all the new heroes will give them a helpful headstart.
If you miss out on unlocking Illari through the Battle Pass during Overwatch 2: Invasion or you don’t have Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, you’ll still be able to unlock her though in-game challenges in future seasons.
