The Dior Homme Sport Eau de Toilette fragrance is a revamped version of the Dior Homme. Itâs a masculine fragrance but not overly masculine. Rob Pattison is the face of the campaign and in images by photographer Mikael Jansson, heâs boxing. âCapturing Pattinsonâs tender masculinity,â as the House notes, makes the actor a type of ring hero himself. And, why not? He aced being The Batman. For Dior Beauty, this fragrance, âstrikes like a boxerâs uppercut,â according to the brand.
Pattinson speaks about the âart and scienceâ behind making a fragrance, and how complicated the process is. Quotes by renowned boxers inspire the collection. âIf you want a boxer, I will step into the ring for you,â was once said of Leonard Cohen. âFly like a butterfly, but sting like a bee,â were the words of the late Muhammed Ali. And just like a boxer enters the ring and one throws the first punch, itâs the Calabrian bergamot, elemi, pink pepper, and frankincense notes that first hit you. Then the wood notes bring I the uppercut. Yet, itâs the citrus elements that bring life to the spices.
âFrançois Demachy chose to revisit his creation, to give new substance to this manifesto for masculinity. With one embrace, he turns the clear composition upside down, tingeing it with warm and amber notes, wrapping it in spices, enriching it with even more wood,â states the House in notes.
His three-note accord approach helped all notes flow together. The frankincense matches well with the aldehyde note. The citrus notes conspire nicely with the wood and amber notes.
While Dior Menâs Creative Director, Kim Jones sticks to the fashion side of things, he did get involved with this project, designing a pair of boxing gloves. âExclusively for the new Dior Homme Sport, He [Kim Jones] was inspired by the iconic world of boxing to design an exceptional pair of gloves,â notes the House. Made in black and gray leather, and stamped with the Dior Logo just below the top of the hands, Jones has entered a new arena- sportswear design.
Coming in three sizes, the Dior Homme Sport in 6.8oz is $175, in 4.25oz is $130, and the 2.5oz bottle is $105.
