Fans of “The White Lotus” checked out of Koh Sumi, Thailand earlier this month as season 3 wrapped up with a dramatic finale. Now, the question that looms large among the show’s audience: “Where in the world will ‘The White Lotus’ go next?”
Consistently set against a backdrop of stunning locales, the HBO hit has sparked a new wave of “set-jetting,” inspiring motivating viewers to book real-life trips to places they see on the TV screen.
Thailand felt the “White Lotus” effect almost immediately. After the show announced its third season would film there, Expedia reported a major surge in flight searches: Chiang Mai up 65% year over year, Phuket up 45%, and Koh Samui up 30%. Since the season’s premiere on February 16, Hotels.com has seen a 65% spike in searches for The Four Seasons Koh Samui, the luxurious resort that played host to the show’s jet-setting elite.
Previous seasons have been set on Maui in Hawaii and Sicily, Italy. Now, Vegas oddsmakers are revealing their top picks for where season 4 of The White Lotus will be filmed.
To compile the odds, analysts at VegasInsider.com, a sports betting site, said that given the series has consistently been set at a Four Seasons location, they only considered destinations that have the luxury hotel brand’s presence.
Could the cast be venturing off to explore the 5,000 year-old pyramids of Cairo next? The odds are good, according to VegasInsider.com, which placed Cairo, Egypt at the top of its list for the most likely “White Lotus” location for season four.
Four Seasons Hotel Cairo at Nile Plaza is located on the banks of the Nile River and is close to the Egyptian Museum, the Cairo Opera House and the Great Pyramids. Egypt is also home to Four Seasons Hotel Alexandria at San Stefano, a waterfront resort set in the “Egyptian Riviera” along the Red Sea and Four Seasons Resort Sharm El Sheikh, which is located between a private stretch of Red Sea shoreline and the Sahara Desert.
Perhaps giving more credibility to this pick is the fact that White has said he’d like the show to hit every continent.
However, Europe could be destined for another “White Lotus” season. HBO executive Francesca Orsi told Deadline back in February that the show would begin scouting locations in coming weeks, saying: “We’re going on some locations scouting in the next couple of weeks, so we’ll know soon. I can’t really say where we’re going to land but chances are somewhere in Europe.”
The chances of a cold-weather or winter destination for “The White Lotus” appear pretty slim, according to the analysis, which has Hampshire, United Kingdom and Norway lower on its list.
