Tiffany Paulsen Says Jenna Ortega And Percy Hynes White Have ‘Lightning In A Bottle Chemistry’
Winter Spring Summer Or Fall went into production not long before the release of Wednesday Season 1, so director Tiffany Paulsen said she didn’t have the opportunity to see Jenna Ortega and Percy Hynes White in a scene together in what soon became a blockbuster Netflix series.
Luckily, Paulsen recalled in a Zoom interview before Winter Spring Summer or Fall premiered at Tribeca, she instantly sensed how great Ortega and Hynes White were together on camera.
“It was magic,” Paulsen enthused. “We were so over the moon that first day to go, ‘Oh, my gosh. These two have lightning-in-a-bottle chemistry and how lucky are we to have this right now in this moment?’ It was really special.”
Paulsen noted that she not only loved the dialogue between her two leads, but the subtle moments in-between where you can tell that the wheels are spinning in their minds.
“The things that attract me to stories and romances especially are — and I’m a writer, first and foremost — those moments between the dialogue,” Paulsen noted. “It’s magical to watch those moments and see them coming alive and wondering what your characters are thinking. Both of them really captured that and built the silence with such interest.”
Also starring Adam Rodriguez and Marisol Nichols as Remi’s parents, Javier and Carmen, Winter Spring Summer or Fall is new on PVOD on Friday.
