Damen Yachting announced the launch of a pair of yachts going to the same owner on August 20, 2025. One, an elegantly outfitted Damen XPlorer 60, After You, is poised to take on exciting itineraries, whether in pursuit of polar extremes or Mediterranean glamour. The other, a Damen Support Yacht 53, Emotional, is stocked with high-tech toys, sports equipment, and additional crew to keep adventurers at the top of the game.
The sale and management of the explorer yacht duo was handled by TWW, who stated on their website, “Both AFTER YOU and EMOTIONAL will be available for charter at key destinations across their owner’s planned circumnavigation,” teasing that more details were to follow. Both explorer yachts are scheduled to debut at the Monaco Yacht Show in September.
The Damen XPlorer 60 By The Numbers
The Damen XPlorer After You is the first to be built at 197 feet/60 meters. She has a 36-foot beam, 12-foot draft, and at 1,160 GT, has plenty of space for every modern convenience. She has a cruising range of 5,000 nautical miles at 12 knots and a maximum speed of 14.5 knots.
Six luxury suites accommodate 12 guests. Space for 13 crew and 4 expedition staff with a crew mess, lounge, engineer’s office, switchboard room, and ship security system. The main deck owner’s suite measures 786 square feet, with dual dressing areas. Five additional main deck guest suites measure 215 square feet. Ceiling heights are almost seven feet on the main and upper decks.
A helideck, fully compliant with Annex 6 of the Large Yacht Code, is certified to handle an Airbus twin engine H135, about 4,000 kg. The yacht is IMO Polar Code Compliant, with Category C certification for safe operations in pack ice with up to 70% concentration, allowing her to explore the globe, pole to pole.
Efficient PTO/PTI Hybrid Propulsion System
The explorer yacht design uses hybrid propulsion system using PTO/PTI technology connected to battery banks enables silent cruising at eight knots on two 85 kWh battery banks plus generators, powering the hybrid electrical drive 200 ekW thrust motors. The battery bank can be extended to four banks for silent mode, and the motors are also available in 600 kW.
In eco cruising, the battery plus a pair of main engines provide propulsion as well as servicing hotel load, sailing between 8 and 14.5 knots. At full power, using battery, generators, and main engines to achieve maximum speed and full hotel load with battery backup. The system reduces emissions, noise, and vibration while economizing on fuel and maintenance costs. Optimum operating temperature range is between 14 and 113 degrees F for outside air and between 30 and 90 degrees F for seawater temperature underway.
Serious Expedition Features
Boasting 30 days of 12-guest, full luxury service, After You is capable of long stretches without port calls. Large capacities for fuel, freshwater, wastewater, garbage with compacters and glass crushers, large laundry and linen facilities, three wine refrigerators with controlled temperature storage zones, and hospital quarantine zone with remote diagnostics ensure guest safety, health, and comfort.
Crane deployment for tender and equipment bays, 132 gallons of petrol storage in jerry cans, crew wet room, crew workbench and store provide scientific and research teams with top of industry equipment and work areas, or leisure guests with more toys than imaginable.
All Work And No Play? Not A Chance
After You is just as ready to have fun as she is to get to work. On board, 7,083 square feet of outdoor deck space includes a top-of-the-world crow’s nest and an extensive lower deck swim platform. Guest interiors span three decks measuring 3,735 square feet. The HVAC system ensures comfortable conditions inside, even when outside temperatures climb to 95 degrees F at 75 percent humidity.
Up on the Sky Lounge, guests will find a bar, whirlpool, sunbeds, sauna, and steam shower, in addition to a comfy lounge area with small tables. The upper deck is outfitted with large indoor and outdoor dining spaces and a semicircular indoor lounge area. A forward observation lounge and observation deck provide guests with an excellent view of the way forward across the horizon.
On the main deck, aft of the guest cabins, the tender bays accommodate a 35-foot sport limo tender and a 23-foot rescue/crew tender along with a pair of jet skis. A covered cabana lounge, dining area, and sunbeds give guests pleasant gathering and staging areas under protective cover. The lower deck houses the engine room and all the expedition stores.
Comfortable And Practical Interiors
Designed to accommodate owner needs, the Damen YS 53 can host up to 16 additional guests or crew. All guest spaces have been designed with a new eye toward comfort alongside extraordinary views.
The bridge deck can be tailored to owner preference, used as extra storage for tenders and equipment or designed as a guest space such as a sun deck with alfresco dining. The yacht can even be designed with a 20-foot swimming pool and an elevated helipad. ThYS 53 is a well-appointed, comfortable workhorse at the beck and call of the mother yacht, ready to provide dependable support for a wide variety of needs.
From scientists to submersible crew, pilots, teachers, child care personnel, or even local surf instructors, the YS 53 model that Emotional is built on emphasizes guest comfort and practical upkeep in all cabins and leisure/work areas. Upgrades are available for materials to enhance the straightforward, smart use of all spaces on board.
