Kali Uchis is setting the stage for her next studio album due out in just a few weeks. Sincerely marks her third English album and fifth overall and is shaping up to be Uchis’ most personal record to date after experiencing the birth of her first child and the death of her mother in the past year. Last month, she released “Sunshine & Rain…” as the lead single from the project, complete with a sound bite from her late mother honoring her memory.
“ILYSMIH” (“I Love You So Much It Hurts”), the second taste of the new LP, is out now and sees the Colombian-American crooner continuing to share her deepest emotions with the world. On the new single, Uchis serenades her beloved one-year-old and opens up about how he’s changed her life since she and partner Don Toliver welcomed their bundle of joy last year.
“I love my baby, nothing else compares / It’s something about those brown eyes that leaves me full of tears, crying / All the world is crazy, but you’re here / My baby made me realize that nothing else even matters,” she sings honestly. “For oncе in my life, I’m not alone anymore / See, my hеart had a dream to be a part of a family / It took some time but this moment / Was worth all the pain.”
The Grammy-winning star alluded to this desire to have her own loving household in an Instagram video last month announcing Sincerely’s release. “I dream of a home that even time will lie down and be still for; a place where everything works out the way it should,” she said.
Sincerely follows Uchis’ Spanish dance-pop album Orquídeas from last year and her 2023 English album Red Moon in Venus. The new album is set for release May 9.
