Australian audio brand RØDE has announced the latest product to join its range of wireless microphones aimed at content creators and filmmakers. The new Wireless Micro Camera Kit builds on the success of RØDE’s award-winning Wireless Micro, which makes recording high-quality sound on a smartphone both affordable and simple.
The new Wireless Micro Camera Kit harnesses the same digital audio technology used in the first-generation RØDE Wireless Micro and can capture high-quality sound with its two wireless microphones. This second generation of the product now includes a universal camera receiver as well as the plug-in USB-C receiver for use with smartphones and tablets.
The RØDE Wireless Micro Camera Kit comes with two ultra-compact wireless transmitters with built-in omnidirectional microphones, a USB-C receiver and an on-camera receiver with a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen.

As well as its two omnidirectional wireless microphones, which automatically pair with either of the receiver units, the RØDE Wireless Micro Camera Kit uses Intelligent GainAssist technology to ensure the sound captured is always perfectly balanced without the need to constantly tweak recording levels. The on-camera receiver has a 1.1-inch AMOLED screen for simple and quick configuration plus it has the best-in-class range of 100 meters.
Pro-Quality Audio
The Wireless Micro Camera Kit makes capturing professional-quality audio as easy as possible. Thanks to the universal camera connectivity of the on-camera receiver, it’s possible to connect to a camera using either a 3.5mm TRS or USB-C output. The receiver can be mounted securely on almost any camera using a cold shoe.
As well as connecting to the smartphone USB-C or on-camera receivers for longer range transmission, the Wireless Micro Camera Kit can also connect directly to an iPhone or iPad using Bluetooth and the free RØDE Capture smartphone app.
When not being used, the microphones and camera receiver are stowed away in their charging case, which ensures the units are always fully charged. The charging case provides extended battery life, delivering two complete recharges for the microphones and receiver with up to 21 hours of use. The microphones can work for up to 7 hours on a single charge.
The camera receiver features plug-in power detection, which automatically powers up the receiver just as soon as the connected camera is turned on. When the camera is turned off, so is the receiver, for maximum efficiency and ensuring the kit is always ready to capture sound at a moment’s notice.
The wireless microphones have integrated pop filters that cut the risk of plosives spoiling the sound and, if it’s windy, there are also furry external foam windshields which can be clipped on the microphones to cut down wind noise when recording out of doors. The mics also include integrated clips and magnetic mounts to make placing them easy.

This latest version of RØDE’s Wireless Micro Camera Kit is the successor to the company’s original Wireless Micro USB-C and is probably the product RØDE should have released the first time around as it now includes a camera receiver.
