Nissan Motor Co.’s Infiniti brand intends to bring out one new model a year to boost U.S. vehicle deliveries to 100,000 annually by 2029. That would mark the 40th anniversary of the brand.
“I’m happy and pleased to say we are all in,” Tiago Castro, a vice president of Infiniti Americas, said Friday at an Automotive Press Association event at Nissan’s technical center in Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Castro was appointed to the post in April. He oversees Infiniti operations in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Latin America, and the Caribbean.
In the first three quarters of 2025, Infiniti had U.S. sales of 38,643 vehicles for the first nine months. That was a 9.2% decline from the same period in 2024.
“Consistency is important,” Castro said. Infiniti will bring out one new product “a year for the next several years.”
The executive discussed product plans for the next three years.
First up for 2026 is the QX65 SUV. A concept version, essentially an advanced prototype, was on display at Friday’s event. Castro said the concept version is “very close to what you’ll see in production…This will be a very important vehicle for us.”
In 2027, Infiniti is planning a sports sedan. This comes amid how trucks are dominating the U.S. market. But Castro said the sports sedan will have a place in the market. “There is fashion associated with a sports sedan,” he said.
In 2028, Infiniti wants to bring out a gasoline-electric hybrid SUV. “There is definitely demand for a hybrid,” Castro said. “There is a big opportunity for us.”
The executive did not go beyond that concerning future product plans. Castro did talk about general matters.
“Do less and do it well is the philosophy,” Castro said. He added that “volume will come” if the company comes through with good vehicles.
What’s more, Castro said Nissan’s top management wants a healthy Infiniti brand. He said “there is a realization” that Nissan will be stronger with a healthy Infiniti.
Nissan’s Infiniti faces much competition in the luxury market. The likes of of BMW and Mercedes Benz are traditional powers. In the U.S., General Motors Co.’s Cadillac and Ford Motor Co.’s Lincoln are players. And Toyota Motor Corp.’s Lexus has been a factor since the early 1990s.
Castro said Friday that Infinity wants to “stay humble” while still being aggressive.
