Logitech has announced the MX Master 4, a new premium computer mouse with nine-buttons and haptic feedback. This is the latest addition to Logitech’s MX Master series of peripherals and it’s designed to help creative professionals, computer coders and office users boost their productivity levels.
The new MX Master 4 is Logitech’s first mouse to feature immersive haptic feedback which can be fully customized with Logi Options+ software. The mouse has strong wireless connectivity, making it easier to control and more precise to use. It’s designed to boost productivity, especially in demanding workflows like graphic design, computer coding and general office use.
Tolya Polyanker is Logitech’s general manager for the MX Series and says, “In today’s fast-paced and demanding world, advanced users need tools that help them redefine their workflows to deliver more in less time. We designed MX Master 4 to bring next-level immersion and speed to our users thanks to the tactile haptic feedback and instant access to their favorite tools with the Actions Ring software overlay.”
Intuitive Haptic Feedback
The customizable haptic feedback pulsates from a pad that falls conveniently under the user’s thumb and produces subtle vibrations when scrolling, navigating and selecting certain options. Haptics make the MX Master 4 well suited for tasks like video editing, graphic design and data analysis.
Software developers will be able to create their own plugins for haptic signalling when selecting certain commands and functions. Adobe has already developed a haptic plugin for Photoshop along with a few other applications. For anyone who doesn’t like the idea of haptic feedback, the feature can be easily disabled or toned down.
Alongside the new haptic feature, the MX Master 4 mouse supports Actions Ring. This is a digital overlay that can appear at the press of a button and offers app-specific shortcuts. The Actions Ring can be customized with frequently used tools and commands so the user can have them at their fingertips anywhere on the screen, reducing the need to access menus.
Save Time And Mouse Miles
With other useful features such as assigning commands in Photoshop or automating functions in Excel, anyone using the new mouse has the potential to reduce repetitive movements by 63%. Over the course of a day, that can cut down massively on the number of “mouse miles” traveled.
The MX Master 4 is powered with a high-performance chip and includes an optimized antenna with twice the connectivity strength of previous generations of MX Master mice. There is also new USB-C dongle with faster and more reliable wireless pairing across laptops, desktops and tablets.
Other new features with Logitech’s flagship mouse include MagSpeed scroll wheel, programmable thumbwheel, left and right mouse buttons, middle button, forward and backward buttons, gesture switch and that new haptic pad. The MagSpeed scroll wheel can be set with a ratchet or smooth scrolling action and can whiz through a 1,000 lines of code per second.
Switchable Sensor Sensitivity
With its 8,000 DPI sensor, Logitech claims the MX Master 4 is smoother and more accurate, plus it can work on almost any surface, even a glass table. The sensor’s resolution can be switched by customizing one of the mouse buttons to toggle between two DPI settings. This is a useful feature for precision work when using applications like Adobe Illustrator or CAD.
Logitech has worked hard to ensure its new mouse is as quiet as possible. The buttons have a positive tactile feel but they make 90% less noise compared to the previous-generation MX Master 3 mouse. making the new version suitable for use in open workspaces or shared offices without disturbing others.
A full charge of the MX Master 4’s battery can provide sufficient power for up to 70 days’ use. The battery can be recharged using a USB-C cable and a one-minute burst can delivering up to three hours of operation. Incidentally, Logitech doesn’t include a charging cable in the box because it assumes most people will have one and there’s no point bringing more unwanted cables into the world.
Pair With Up To Three Devices
Like its MX range of keyboards, Logitech’s MX Master 4 can pair with up to three devices and seamlessly switch between them, whether they are laptops, desktops or tablets. Even when switching between devices with a different operating system, the MX Master 4 can still access the Actions Ring and Easy-Switch functions. Users can also transfer files between different devices using them mouse.
This MX Master 4 has refreshed styling and is made with a material that feels tougher and harder wearing than the plastics used on previous generations of MX Master mice. The plastic has a slight texture and is stain-resistant, making it easier to keep clean, even when used in messy conditions.
Logitech has also announced the MX Master 4 for Business. This enterprise version of the mouse is designed to make life easier for IT teams because it can be deployed across a global workforce when employees are logged into Logi Tune software.
IT departments can monitor deployed mice remotely using Logitech’s Sync management platform. Desk visits aren’t necessary and employees using the included Logi Bolt USB dongle will notice more reliable connections, even in spaces where the wireless spectrum is crowded with devices are vying for airspace.
The Logitech MX Master 4 has been designed with a smaller environmental footprint and uses a minimum 48% certified post-consumer plastic. The thumbwheel is made from low-carbon aluminum and the rechargeable battery uses 100% recycled cobalt, minimizing the use of resources and reducing carbon emissions. The mouse ships in FSC-certified packaging and the plastic is unpainted and easy to disassemble.
