Fandom and fashion are colliding like never before, and no brand has harnessed this intersection of interests quite like POP MART. If you’ve heard of a Labubu (which, who hasn’t at this point?), then you’re familiar with POP MART, the popular store focused on designer toys and IP characters like The Monsters, Skullpanda, Dimoo, and more. Amongst the many character-based brands they feature is Peach Riot, a fictional punk band composed of three spirited and independent high schoolers: lead vocalist and guitarist Gigi, drummer and band leader Frankie, and bassist and keyboard player Poppy. Created by artist Libby Frame, Peach Riot perfectly infuses fashion, illustration, and fandom into one iconic brand, and they’re finally delving into the fashion game with a new clothing collaboration with fashion brand Cider.
Peach Riot and Cider teaming up made perfect sense: a fashion collaboration that brings the style of the Peach Riot girls to life through wearable pieces seems like an absolute no-brainer. “Style plays an essential role in how Gigi, Frankie, and Poppy express themselves, and this collaboration enabled us to turn that into life-sized clothing for the first time,” shared Emily Brough, POP MART Head of IP, The Americas. With fashion lovers repping Labubus as bag charms and curating collectables as an ever-growing way to showcase one’s style beyond wearable pieces, it was only a matter of time for the two worlds to officially collide.
Peach Riot’s new Lil Peach Riot Sleepover Series, which features 12 miniaturized versions of Gigi, Frankie, and Poppy in adorable sleepover gear, presented the perfect jumping-off point for the partnership. “When we saw Peach Riot’s Sleepover series, it felt like the perfect spark,” described Fenco Lin, Co-Founder of Cider, noting the synergy between Cider and Peach Riot: “Both brands celebrate creativity, community, and the joy of self-expression, so reimagining those moments through fashion felt organic.” Lin also noted that loungewear has become one of Cider’s fastest-growing categories, so aligning on a loungewear collection inspired by the Sleepover series was kismet.
In regard to the collaborative process, Lin shared that POP MART and Peach Riot “brought a rich creative foundation, while Cider translated that energy into playful, wearable fashion”. With each of the three Peach Riot characters having their own distinctive styles and personalities, there was a lot of room to play with when it came to designing the clothing. “Together, we thought about how each girl would dress for a sleepover, then translated those moods into cozy yet expressive fashion—silky pajama sets, plush loungewear, and off-stage looks fans can wear anywhere.” The two teams worked closely together throughout the process to ensure the clothing designs stayed true to the Peach Riot DNA.
The resulting collection features nine total looks—three outfits for each Peach Riot character—plus two accessories: a throw pillow, and an eye mask and scrunchie set in three colors. “We’re especially excited about the pillow — it’s already a team favorite and feels like the perfect collectible-meets-home accent from the Peach Riot universe,” the Cider team shared. They’re also big fans of the sleep sets, noting that they “come in fun colors you can mix and match with friends”. Meanwhile, the loungewear pieces are great for relaxing at home or on a casual day out. The mix-and-match nature of the collection allows plenty of opportunity for customers to infuse their own style into the pieces, further embracing the energy of the Peach Riot characters.
With the success of partnerships like the Cider and Peach Riot collaboration, I expect to see many more fandom-focused clothing collaborations in the future. Lin agrees: “Today’s fans don’t just want to consume culture; they want to live it, wear it, and share it.” If fashion is one of the best ways to showcase one’s personality and passions, then it tracks that we’ll see an increase in people wearing their fandoms on their sleeves—literally!
