Despite facing a slight 7% dip in postings within Q1 2025, demand for remote work and the supply of high-paying remote jobs still remains strong.
Particularly in fields like computer and IT, project management, sales, and healthcare, remote job openings continue to see a steady rise, with major employers such as United Health Group, GE, and CVS Health posting the greatest number of remote vacancies within the first quarter of this year.
If you’ve been recently laid off or mandated into returning to the office by your employer, and are actively seeking to land a remote job that offers flexibility, purpose, and an attractive six-figure salary, there are three specific roles actively hiring right now that should be on your radar.
These remote jobs pay more than $100,000 each year according to PayScale salary data, and they’ve been identified by FlexJobs in their Remote Work Economy Index report:
1. Remote Senior Product Manager
Product management is an in-demand role and skill because companies are constantly seeking to be innovative and roll out new digital tools. For them to be effective in bringing new products to market or updating existing ones, they need product managers to oversee the lifecycle, user experience, and feature development.
Top SaaS companies and start-ups usually hire product managers. Some of the companies currently hiring from FlexJobs top companies list include UnitedHealth Group, and Ryder, (currently hiring for a remote role as senior product owner at the time of writing).
To land a role as a product manager (sometimes termed technical project manager), you don’t need a degree, and you don’t need to be an extremely technical person either. This role is very accessible, even if you’re not a developer, and you can learn the skills required through undertaking online short courses.
Average salary: $131,127
2. Remote Software Engineer
Almost everything is run on software: entire healthcare systems, hotel platforms, registering for an event or online course, even delivering remote customer service. This is why software engineering is not only an in-demand career with a strong job growth projection of 17% according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, but it’s also a great career choice if you want stability and desire to future-proof your job.
Just like with product management, you can become a software engineer without a degree. But you’d need to study courses such as those provided through Codeacademy, complete your own portfolio of projects, and continuously update your technical stack and knowledge. Also bear in mind that employers are more concerned with years of experience than the years you studied a degree, so you need to be prepared to evidence this through showcasing what you’ve built, and how.
Average salary: $137,970
3. Remote Business Development Manager
We all know that expanding into new markets and acquiring new clients is the backbone of successful business growth; and this is precisely why the role of a business development manager is so critical.
Sales and business development roles help companies drive revenue through strategic partnerships and onboarding and acquiring new clients. This is especially important for software-as-a-service firms, any business delivering B2B services, and companies operating in healthcare.
Having strong CRM skills, a background in sales and proposal writing, and a target-driven tenacious attitude will enable you to thrive in this career and stay motivated, even when working on your own from home.
Average salary: $144,303
There’s a common denominator here for each of these roles: the remote jobs listed above all directly contribute or impact to a business’s bottom line, and are integral to a company’s growth. Although they can be highly demanding, the salary and benefits packages offered, combined with remote work flexibility, are perfect compensation and makes these career opportunities extremely attractive to pursue.
This means that the competition will be stronger, so you’d need to work harder and more strategically to align yourself with the job descriptions posted as well as the employer’s core values and mission, and you’d need to think outside the box so you can really stand out from the crowd of applicants.
Consider taking steps such as:
- Tailoring your resume and application materials
- Studying the company profile beyond a quick glance
- Networking directly with hiring managers and existing employees
- Attending industry events where representatives from those companies would be likely to be present
- Positioning yourself as an expert in your field on your LinkedIn profile
Companies are hiring right now for these very remote jobs. What happens next is in your hands.
