Hey look, it’s Friday! Huzzah! Not only is this the end of the work week for many of us (not for me, my week never ends!) it’s also 2XP Friday for Competitive Wordle players. This means you double your points—positive or negative—based on your guessing game today. (See rules below).
It’s also lovely out, and I mean to actually go get outside for a hike now that I’m finally over my cold. So let’s do this Wordle!
The Hint: Lives in perfect harmony with elephant tusks.
The Clue: Today’s Wordle begins with a vowel.

Wordle Analysis
Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.
This went better than I thought it would after my first guess. SPOIL left me spoiled for choice, with 101 remaining possible solutions (though I didn’t know that until Wordle Bot told me after the fact).
I decided to guess all new letters for my second guess and went with CRANE. This ended up being a very good guess, indeed, leaving me with just 1 possible solution, which I thought of eventually. EBONY for the win! Huzzah!
Competitive Wordle Score
I get 1 point for guessing in three and 0 points for tying the Wordle Bot. Double that for 2XP Friday for a whopping 2 points!
Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
The word “ebony” comes from the Late Latin word “ebenus,” which was derived from the Ancient Greek word “ἔβενος” (ébenos), referring to the dark wood that comes from the ebony tree. This Greek word itself was borrowed from the Egyptian word “hbny,” which also referred to the ebony tree or its wood. The term has historically been used to describe the dense, black wood that is famously smooth and finely textured, and is derived from several species of tree in the genus Diospyros. Ebony wood has been highly valued over the centuries for its rich, dark color and durability, often used in fine furniture, musical instruments, and other decorative arts.
