While there are several stories about how April 20th (aka 4/20) came to be known as a high holiday for those who enjoy marijuana, thereâs no doubt that itâs become a popular day in the cannabis community. This year the unofficial cannabis lovers holiday falls on a Saturday giving those who want to celebrate even more of an excuse to go all out.
Here are 7 Miami restaurants and bars that will be partaking in the festivities â offering specials, deals, and even a high-end chef tasting menu inspired by OG strains of the devilâs lettuce.
The Dead Flamingo Pop-Up at Casa Tiki offers an array of $4.20 specials
Step into the psychedelic oasis of Miami’s latest pop-up bar, The Dead Flamingo Pop-Up at Casa Tiki where in honor of 4/20, this lively spot will offer a Purple Haze CBD oil fat-washed mojito for just $4.20. “The inspiration for this specialty cocktail was easy,” said Will Thompson, co-owner of The Dead Flamingo by Better Days, who says it stems from Jimi Hendrix’s song “Purple Haze.” “We want drinks that make everyone feel as they wish and these will do the trick.â Those looking for a quick hit? “The One Hitter” shot is calling your name, the shot for just $4.20 (weâre sensing a theme here) that blends Teeling whiskey, house-made green tea, and a hint of peach CBD.
Additionally, there will be a selection of draft beers including Lagunitas IPA, Lagunitas Island Beats, Sweetwater G13, Sweetwater 420, Estrella Damm, and Guinness at the same low price. And if hunger strikes â fear not! Happy hour will be filled with complimentary croquetas and popcorn, perfect for satisfying those munchies. As the day fades into night, guests will enjoy the sounds of a DJ while 420-inspired movies play in the background.
Eating House to host its annual 4/20 Dinner
One of the first restaurants in the Magic City to recognize the beloved stoner holiday, Eating House has hosted a popular 4/20 celebration since 2012. This yearâs multi-course menu is inspired by popular strains of marijuana served family-style for $84.20 per person. Think elevated munchies like a Maui Wowie appetizer made with yellowfin tuna poke, cucumber, chili crunch, yuzu aioli, chips and sesame or Blue Cheese OG made with crispy duck wings, carrot buffalo sauce, and blue cheese crĂšme fraĂźche.
âThis yearâs 4/20 is all about balance. Weâre making it exciting with each dish being inspired by different strains, but our main goal is to create delicious food,â says Giorgio Rapicavoli, co-owner and chef at Eating House. âOne perfect example is the Acapulco Gold dish â we have housemade pasta, slow-cooked short rib, green chile fonduta, and housemade hot sauce that tastes almost exactly like a Taco Bell taco. And our Strawberry Cough dessert has local strawberries and vanilla bean custard. While weâre still having fun with this menu, weâre also making food that weâre proud of and respect.â This seven-dish sharing menu will be available from noon to 10:30pm on Saturday, April 20th only. You definitely won’t want to share this one.”
