The main event of WWE Survivor Series was one of the best matches of a mid premium live event. While the action was solid–as new Survivor Series War Games matches can be–it ended with a strong cliffhanger that is sure to have the WWE Universe talking as we move in Raw on December 1.
The Vision defeated the team of CM Punk, Roman Reigns, Jimmy Uso, Jey Uso and Cody Rhodes. The heels gained the advantage when a man in an all-black disguise scaled the side of the War Games cage, super kicked Punk and then landed the curb stomp to set Bron Breakker up for the pin.
Here is a look at the finish.
The moves were all out of Seth Rollins’ bag, but he recently underwent surgery to repair a torn labrum. However, with Rollins’ recent history of faking the severity of an injury, fans immediately began to suspect another ruse. They are likely right, but it wasn’t Seth Rollins in a disguise.
The Man Who Attacked CM Punk at Survivor Series is Likely Austin Theory
All indications are that the man in all black was Austin Theory.
The former United States champion hasn’t performed since July. He has split with former tag-team partner Grayson Waller and based on things I’ve heard from industry pros, Theory has been away rebuilding a new persona.
I’ve heard he will have a striking new look and there was some indication of that at Survivor Series. The man in all black looked a bit more muscular than the frame Theory sported during his most recent run with WWE, but everything else seems to track.
I’m also expecting a new hairstyle for Theory designed to help push him as more of a heel.
Mind you, the man’s identity is still not officially known. My takes are educated speculation. We may not get that confirmed until the upcoming episode of Raw or perhaps even on the upcoming Saturday Night’s Main Event which will also feature John Cena’s final match.
If that’s the show that reveals Theory’s new direction it would make sense considering his match with Cena at WrestleMania 39 in 2023 played a role in the young star’s failure to get over.
Theory was being pushed hard three years ago and he won the US title twice, but never seemed to take that next step as a heel. If the early reports and my process of elimination are correct, it is clear WWE believes in Theory.
Playing the role of the deciding factor in the main event at Survivor Series is a big deal that wouldn’t be given to just anyone. I’ve long called for Theory to be teamed with Paul Heyman and it appears as though that could happen if he is indeed the newest member of The Vision.
Stay tuned for official confirmation on the mystery man’s identity. Here’s a look at all of the results from Survivor Series.
