There are some incredible whisky advent calendars out there this year; beautifully presented and carefully curated to offer the ultimate scotch whisky tasting journey. Rather than simply run through each advent calendar, this year I’ve taken a page from the beauty advent calendar play book. I’ve selected my top six scotch advent calendars and gift sets and estimated the total value you’d normally pay if you bought every included whisky as a full-sized bottle.
So whether you’re picking the perfect present within your secret santa price limit, or are simply in need of some whisky math to justify that personal purchase, this is the guide for you.
The Greatest Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar
Estimated value: $2,000
The Spirit Co have put together an incredible selection of advent calendars this year, and they are, in my opinion, some of the best looking I’ve seen. The Greatest Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar comes in around $150 and buying each of the 25 whiskies at full size would set you back around $2,000, but you also get a couple of glasses and guided tasting notes to further elevate their curated selection of drams.
“As a small, family-run business, creating something both memorable and genuinely good value is incredibly important to us. Our hope is to build a trusted community of customers who enjoy the experience and choose to return to us year after year,” said Ben Eustace, Managing Director at The Spirit Co to me over email. “It’s an experience crafted to guide them through the nuances of each spirit and make every moment memorable.”
Peaty Whisky Advent Calendar
Estimated value: $1,500
Drinks By The Dram is one of the OG whisky advent calendar creators and the Peaty Whisky edition for 2025 offers 25 x 30ml drams for under $150. Peat is one of the core components of scotch whisky but it comes in a huge array of levels and finishes. Buying each of these whiskies separately as full size bottles would set you back around $1,500 meaning if you, or someone you’re buying for, is looking to get into peated scotch this calendar is definitely the most cost effective way to start.
“Peat is beautiful, diverse, and downright mucky; decomposition plus time (loads of it) multiplied by digging it up and divided by burning with good old-fashioned fire,” enthused Sam Simmonds, the Head of Whisky at Atom Brands who are behind Drinks By The Dram, when I contacted him over email. “The calendar curates itself… follow your nose!”
The Book Of Scotch
Estimated value: $400
If you enjoy a good whisky and want to try more but don’t quite fancy taking on 24/25 drams on top of the classic holiday drinking, then The Book of Scotch is the perfect solution. This selection from Whisky With Us is just five 30ml drams, one from each scotch region. Buying them separately would set you back around $400, but as well as the savings you also have a beautifully presented gift set that includes a 20 page tasting guide.
“The Book of Scotch is designed for anyone from a complete beginner to a seasoned whisky enthusiast,” explained Shelley Kelaty, Founder and Managing Director of Whisky With Us over an email with me. “A newcomer gets a guided, confidence-building introduction to scotch, while an experienced drinker enjoys diving deeper into flavour, style and character through a curated mix they may not have explored before. The aim is that they walk away having learned something, tasted something genuinely interesting, and felt like they’ve been on a little whisky adventure — all in one beautifully packaged set.”
That Boutique-y Whisky Advent Calendar
Estimated value: $2,200
This advent calendar from That Boutique-y Whisky Company offers a huge cross section of whiskies from across the world. The ten bottles listed in the “spoilers” section would put you back around $950, although many of them are sold out already. Using that ten bottle average puts the price to buy all 24 of these whiskies at full size at around $2,200. This calendar comes in at under $150 for 24 x 30ml , making it one of the best on this list in terms of potential savings.
“A trip into the world of Boutique-y can be a mind-bending experience, and this collection is consistent with that well-established modus operand,” explained Simmons—Boutique-y work with Drinks By The Dram for the advent calendar. “Boutique-y’s calendar includes whiskies to enlighten the newer whisky explorer as well as surprise or expose the experienced connoisseur to new frontiers. It’s always about selecting whiskies that, when trying them, make us say to one another, ‘whoa, you have GOT to try this.’”
Flaviar’s Whiskey Advent Calendar 2025
Estimated value: $1,800
This advent calendar from Flaviar offers a selection of whiskies from around the world. It’s currently available for $270 (£149) and they estimate the value of the 24 x 50ml drams at more than $500. While it is a bit more expensive than the others on the list, you do get 50ml of each whiskey so you are getting a bit more in each sample to really get a feel for it.
You do also get guided tasting notes with this one and a pair of Glencairn glasses. I do enjoy what they’ve done with the packaging too as I think it’s leaning away from the advent calendar theme that makes it work well as a potential gift.
The Whisky Shop Single Malt Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar 2025
Estimated value: $1,600
At just $130 The Whisky Shop Single Malt Scotch Advent Calendar is the cheapest 25 dram selection on my list. I’ve estimated the value of the whiskies included as there isn’t a full list, and it puts it around $1,600, still an impressive saving.
“Our Single Malt Scotch Whisky Advent Calendar should be top of your Christmas wishlist this year as it is one of the only calendars on the market that features single malt expressions from across Scotland’s whisky regions, with big brands, new distilleries and cult favourites alike, all for exceptional value!” said Danny O’Donnell, Head of Digital Commerce at The Whisky Shop.
So there you have it, a round up of my top six whisky advent calendars, and in case you need the excuse, how much I estimate you’re saving on each. If scotch isn’t your preference then watch this space, as I’ll be covering American whiskey calendars next.
Note: All value estimates are based on the average retail prices of the bottles listed. Please don’t rely on these figures for financial decisions, as errors are possible.
