It’s turning out to be quite the month for Denmark’s legendary audio company Bang & Olufsen. A few days ago, it announced the launch of Reloved, a new platform for selling classic B&O reconditioned products. Today it’s the turn of Beosound Premiere, a brand-new statement soundbar producing a three-dimensional spatial audio experience from a striking three-dimensional silhouette.
The launch of Bang & Olufsen’s Premiere soundbar introduces patent-pending Wide Stage Technology, which is used to set this rather bold and sculptural soundbar apart from much of the competition and evidence that the 100-year-old brand is still pushing boundaries.
“Beosound Premiere transcends the conventional soundbar; it’s a sculptural masterpiece and a bold expression of acoustic artistry. Sculpted from our signature aluminum, it embodies Bang & Olufsen’s century-long heritage of pioneering audio innovation in harmony with timeless design,” says Kristian Teär, CEO of Bang & Olufsen.
“This is not merely a product; it is a curated experience. Beosound Premiere redefines the category, transforming sound into an emotional encounter and the soundbar into a piece of art. Our commitment to craftsmanship and bespoke technology continues to shape our legacy, inspiring generations with moments of magic.”
The Art Of Aluminum
Sculpted from pure aluminum, the Beosound Premiere is is a collaboration between Bang & Olufsen’s Design team and the world-renowned experts at Factory 5 in Struer, Denmark. Unlike most conventional soundbars, Beosound Premiere is a three-dimensional sculpture that mirrors the three-dimensional sound it produces. The speaker drivers are on show rather than concealed, showcasing the company’s philosophy of designing inside, out and outside, in.
The seamless aluminum chassis is pearl blasted to produce a matte satin finish. Achieving such a compact form required precision engineering by aligning extruded aluminum with cut end caps, maintaining a slim profile while housing ten drivers.
Perhaps one of the most eye-catching features is the up-firing tweeter, placed in the center of the soundbar, designed to capture the viewer’s gaze. Hidden design details on the up-firing driver include 1,925 precisely machined perforations to honor the year Bang & Olufsen was established.
Spatial Sound Seen Differently
Beosound Premiere provides high-fidelity spatial sound for an immersive sound. This was achieved by using 10 custom-engineered drivers alongside a dedicated upward-firing driver at the soundbar’s center which adds height and dimension to the soundscape. At its heart, Beosound Premiere’s array of custom-designed drivers precisely controls the sound’s direction. The result, claims B&O, is enhanced clarity in dialogue and a deep and powerful bass, making every scene feel more lifelike.
Developed by Bang & Olufsen’s in-house engineers, the new Wide Stage Technology uses signal processing that was custom designed for Beosound Premiere to create the illusion of having added external speakers, making the soundstage wider and taller.
The Beosound Premiere analyses its surroundings to deliver sound that’s suited to the space it’s being used in. Whether it’s standalone or the centerpiece of a listener’s system, Beosound Premiere enables additional Bang & Olufsen speakers to be added through Beolink Surround. A fully integrated Dolby Atmos 7.1.4 surround decoder adapts to the user’s system and supports expansion.
The Language Of Light
Through the language of light, Beosound Premiere transforms the way listeners engage with sound for intuitive interaction. Some 90 responsive LEDs illuminate the interior of the soundbar. As settings are adjusted, the light follows, creating a visual connection with the product.
Bang & Olufsen also has a mission to promote circularity where products are built to last, both in sound and structure. Beosound Premiere is Cradle to Cradle Certified Bronze, meaning it’s made to be updated over time. Beosound Premiere includes a five-year warranty when signing up to Beocare.
To mark this launch of Beosound Premiere, Bang & Olufsen’s Atelier team has created a special Haute Edition, limited to just 25 pieces worldwide. This edition accentuates the sculptural qualities of the soundbar with a precision-milled pattern that originates from the signature central slot and radiates outward, wrapping the entire form in flowing grooves that echo the way sound spreads in waves. These grooves are designed to catch the light, invite touch and convey a sense of energy, movement and depth.
The pattern is achieved through an intricate milling process that takes 17 hours to complete, where a spinning blade carves grooves into the aluminum, creating a visual echo of its spatial sound capability and turning the Beosound Premiere into more than a soundbar.
As a signature of authenticity and craftsmanship, each of the Haute Edition pieces will be individually engraved with its number and comes with a limited-edition Beoremote One packaged in a handmade wooden presentation box. A certificate of authenticity is also included.
