Michelin debuted in the Philippines with its 2026 stars for Manila and its surrounding environs, and Cebu, at a highly anticipated ceremony held on October 30, 2025 at the Marriott Manila Hotel’s Grand Ballroom at Newport World Resorts.
Eight restaurants were awarded one Michelin star: Asador Alfonso in Cavite; Celera, Gallery by Chele, Hapag, Kasa Palma, Linamnam and Toyo Eatery— all in Metro Manila.
One restaurant was awarded two Michelin stars. Josh Boutwood’s Helm at Ayala Triangle Gardens was the sole recipient of this accolade. The British-Filipino chef is known for his precision and ultra-creative and cerebral tasting menus, which have been themed to everything from color to “Star Wars” to “Harry Potter.”
The Michelin Green Star, which highlights restaurants at the forefront of sustainable practices, went to Gallery by Chele. Led by chefs Chele González and Carlos Villaflor, the restaurant is recognized for their “strong farm-to-table ethos and commitment to biodiversity, waste reduction and community sourcing,” according to the guide.
Twenty-five restaurants received a Bib Gourmand distinction, which recognizes great food at a great value, with 19 located in Manila and its environs, and six in Cebu.
In addition to the Bib Gourmand and Stars awards, Michelin also announced three Special Awards, highlighting the skillful professionals from the industry: Don Patrick Baldosano of Michelin-starred Linamnam (Young Chef Award); Erin Recto of Michelin-starred Hapag (Service Award); and Benjamin Leal of Michelin-selected Uma Nota (Exceptional Cocktails Award).
“Filipino cuisine is bold, generous, and deeply personal,” Gwendal Poullennec, international director of Michelin Guide, said onstage at the ceremony. “It tells a story of heritage and innovations where sweet, salty, sour and umami harmonize to create flavors that are both comforting and exciting. What sets the Philippines apart is the new generation of chefs— many are under 30 years old. Some honed their skills abroad, others right here at home. Together they are shaping a new era for modern Filipino cuisine— innovative yet rooted, contemporary yet unmistakably Filipino. Hospitality, too, the warmth and genuine care of the Filipino people is woven into every experience. Whether at a casual eatery of fine dining establishment, it always leaves a lasting impression.”
