If you’re still using ChatGPT to brainstorm ideas or draft emails and LinkedIn posts, you’re barely scratching the surface.
With OpenAI’s new integrations in ChatGPT like Coursera for on-demand upskilling and coaching, and Study Mode for tutoring and structured learning, you can not only boost your productivity as a professional and as a leader, but you can also raise your value in the job market and increase your earning potential through upskilling.
Instead of switching between 10 tools and platforms to stay relevant, you can get it all in one app, ChatGPT. And as OpenAI turns into a supergiant, building partnerships across industries and connecting multiple tech giants in their own right to integrate with the platform, we’ll start to see more expanded capabilities and learning pathways through this powerful AI tool, all in one window.
3 ChatGPT Tools/Features To Boost Your Income And Skills
For now, here are three powerful ChatGPT features to increase your effectiveness and overall strategy as a leader or manager, boost your value in the job market, and open up more career opportunities.
1. ChatGPT Feature: Coursera In ChatGPT
Via the app’s SDK integration, you can now browse through Coursera courses and upscaling roadmaps directly inside your ChatGPT chat without needing to navigate to Coursera’s website. The integration makes it possible for you to browse videos from Coursera’s catalogue and learn skills that will help you build essential competencies in today’s workforce such as leadership skills, strategy, communication, tech skills, AI literacy, etc. These are all high-income, in-demand skills that are transferable across industries. You can also learn technical skills like coding and performance marketing.
(At the moment, this feature is only available in the U.S.)
This turns ChatGPT into a learning assistant and tutor, helping you gain marketable skills. All you need to do is start your conversation with “Coursera.” This way, your learning experience becomes part of your workflow. And since ChatGPT remembers your conversations, it’s more efficient, especially if you’ve already been discussing your career goals within ChatGPT.

2. Agentic AI And File Sharing
Agentic AI, leveraging ChatGPT’s multimodal capabilities, makes it easier for you to make sense of data and analyze documents or files in your OneDrive or Google Drive, for example. You can use this to summarize reports, draft new reports, and most importantly, spot emerging insights or underlying themes.
This is an indispensable skill to develop as a leader because data is what ultimately informs strategy and decision-making. You can ask ChatGPT to train you to think like an analyst and to build your critical thinking skills by entering specific ChatGPT prompts to challenge your reasoning, for example:
ChatGPT Prompt:
“Ask me a series of questions about this initial strategy draft that I should be considering as a senior manager, to help me evaluate the draft objectively and provide feedback. Leverage existing market data as part of the reasoning behind your questions.”
3. ChatGPT Study Mode
Another great tool is the ChatGPT Study and Learn mode. (Read more about how to use it here.) This function allows you to learn a new skill as though a tutor were coaching you. Instead of giving you answers, it directs your thinking and asks questions to help you arrive at the final answer.
You can also change activity to do this in the regular chat function. However, using Study mode makes it just a little bit easier.
Finally, as a bonus tip, try Deep Research mode for when you want to scratch beyond the surface. Deep Research allows you to comb through several online sources, including reports from credible institutions and academic papers, to help you understand a topic in detail.
However, as with anything generated by AI, always be careful to fact-check the information provided, as it is still subject to hallucinations and gross errors, as was evidenced by the recent AI fallout from the Deloitte report provided to the Australian government in early October.
Using ChatGPT strategically as your learning assistant and co-worker will help you get more out of it than standard results. You’ll be able to supercharge your career growth, bump up your salary because of your updated skills, and increase your competitive edge in the job market.
