Bad Bunny may be busy preparing for his upcoming Super Bowl halftime show and the international leg of his sold-out No Me Quiero Ir de Aquí residency and tour, but he is still finding time for his passion projects. Now, the Puerto Rican superstar is unveiling a new motorsport-inspired footwear and apparel collection, created in collaboration with adidas Originals and the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS Formula 1 Team.
Set to release next month, the Bad Bunny Adiracer GT and Bad Bunny Motorsport Collection mark an exciting next step in a collaboration that brought Formula 1 to Puerto Rico for the first time. In August, the singer worked with adidas Originals to bring one of the cars from the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team to San Juan, where it crossed the iconic Puente Dos Hermanos in a thrilling showcase set in the heart of Puerto Rico’s capital city.
Timed to coincide with Bad Bunny’s sold-out summer residency concert series at San Juan’s Coliseo de Puerto Rico José Miguel Agrelot, the first-ever run of an F1 car on the island was driven by the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS team driver Esteban Gutiérrez. To honor the showcase, Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS made the singer the newest honorary member of the team in celebration.
Now, Bad Bunny is releasing his own adidas Originals collection of footwear and apparel to cement the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 partnership in style. The first-of-its-kind collection merges the motorsport performance and sleek design of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team with the streetwear aesthetics of adidas in a way that only Bad Bunny could, with his Puerto Rican pride front and center.
Eagle-eyed fans who were in Puerto Rico for one of the singer’s concerts this summer will recognize the Adiracer GT from its debut at the adidas Originals “The Archive” exhibit, held at the Museo de Arte de Puerto Rico. In addition to debuting the Adiracer GT, the showcase presented the designs derived from what has been a five-year collaboration with Bad Bunny. It included the newly-released adidas Originals x Bad Bunny Gazelle City Series, inspired by the colors, culture, destinations and people of the island he calls home.
The Adiracer GT presents a silhouette and design aesthetic deeply rooted in the driving shoes used by F1 racers in the early 2000s, reinterpreted for a modern, fashion-forward audience. Its sleek, low-profile design with an exoskeleton structure over suede is reminiscent of the materials used in the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 cars themselves.
The Adiracer GT is joined by the Bad Bunny Motorsport Collection, a full racing-inspired capsule collection including a cap, zip-up tees, a race jacket, racing gloves, and pants.
The collection features bold typography, badges, and color-blocking with sunny yellow hues to tie together the stylistic inspiration of the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 team with that of the Puerto Rican singer. A “94” motif throughout the design is a racing-number-inspired nod to the year of the singer’s birth. The collection amplifies racing culture while calling on the archival designs of the streetwear and footwear brand, and is brought to life through the premium materials and craftsmanship that adidas is known for.
The Bad Bunny Adiracer GT and Motorsport Collection serves as a unique bridge between the worlds of fashion, sport and culture in a groundbreaking way. It builds upon both the longstanding Bad Bunny x adidas Originals partnership, which has pushed the bounds of fashion in cultural expression. Capturing the magnitude of the rising interest in F1, the collection marries the Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1 Team’s reputation for speed, precision and performance with sportswear style.
It also speaks to Bad Bunny’s cultural capital, at a time when Puerto Rico takes the spotlight thanks to the singer’s global platform. Centering his island roots and pride, the singer has helped position Puerto Rico as a source of innovation and creativity on a broader scale, shifting narratives about the island’s presence in global culture and making waves in the worlds of travel, entrepreneurship, fashion and beyond.
The Adiracer GT and Motorsport Collection launches globally in November, taking the next step in an inspired collaboration that has married culture and sport in a unique way. But if fans have learned anything, it’s that there is always more to come from Bad Bunny, adidas Originals, and Mercedes-AMG PETRONAS F1.
