Adobe has just launched its video editor program, Adobe Premiere, for the iPhone and iPad. It’s not the full Premiere Pro program found on the PC, but on the other hand, it’s free. Well, sort of.
Adobe Premiere is now available in the App Store, and is a version of Premiere Pro that’s been reimagined for mobile. Adobe says it’s capable of “delivering pro-level creative control, without the pro-level complexity,” and “brings precision editing on a lightning-fast multi-track timeline, studio-quality audio with crystal clear voiceovers, perfectly timed AI sound effects, the ability to generate one-of-a-kind content with Adobe’s commercially safe Firefly models and more.”
All of which sounds good, and not having to pay the monthly subscription that Premiere Pro attracts is a bonus. Adobe says you can edit “at the speed of inspiration with fast, responsive performance,” and it’s designed so that you can start projects on your iPhone and quickly export them to TikTok or YouTube, for instance.
Or “end projects to Premiere Pro for precision editing on your desktop,” Adobe says. That’s when the cost kicks in, though, as sharing your work to the desktop app means you need to use Adobe credits.
“Premiere on iPhone is a free, standalone video editing app. Generative AI features powered by Firefly use generative credits which can be purchased with a subscription or are included as part of existing Creative Cloud plans,” Adobe explains.
In other words, if you are a Premiere Pro desktop subscriber, then moving stuff from iPhone to desktop is possible. But that subscription costs $23 a month or more, so Premiere is a notable saving.
The new app is a replacement for the previous Premiere Rush which has now been discontinued, as of Sept. 30, 2025.
Premiere on Android is being developed and will follow in the future.
