The full launch of Escape From Tarkov is right around the corner, and with it will come the ability to actually complete the game and escape from Tarkov. It has now been confirmed that there will be four different endings to the game, but if the devs are to be believed, only a tiny portion of the player base will experience any of them.
In a recent Q&A at the Tokyo Game Show, Tarkov game director Nikita Buyanov spoke about the new content coming to Tarkov with the upcoming 1.0 launch on November 15, and one of the big talking points was the ending of the game. When 1.0 hits, the main story quest line will be added, and when you complete it you will actually escape from Tarkov.
We now know there will be four different endings to the game, based on the choices you make and how you do during your play through. Some will likely be a better outcome than others, depending on how well you have done during your time in Tarkov. There weren’t any real details given on what each ending will change, but we did find out that it will be difficult even to get the most basic ending.
“For those who want to achieve, or want to escape with the best ending, it will be really hard and actually not everyone will escape from Tarkov at all,” said Buyanov in the Q&A. “I think it will be something around 2% of all the player base [that will escape] so it will be really hard, it will be really challenging, and you can treat it as an achievement of your life.”
It sounds like actually completing Escape From Tarkov is going to require a lot of work, even for the most basic ending, with many expecting it to be more challenging than acquiring the Kappa container, which is currently one of the most difficult tasks in Tarkov. Only a tiny handful of players manage that every wipe, so it makes sense that actually completing the game is going to be reserved for only the top players.
With the news that the wipe system will still somewhat be in place after the launch it will likely only make escaping Tarkov harder, but given the talk of seasonal characters for wipes I suspect the best ending could be reserved for those who get multiple characters to max level or to escape Tarkov over multiple seasons.
We should get more information on what Escape From Tarkov will look like when it launches in the coming weeks, but until then we have a new wipe to look forward to and hopefully a lot more communication from the developers about what to expect in November.
