Founded in 2021 by couple Marieke Meulendijks and Maickel Weyers, Róhe is the Amsterdam-based brand, design studio and atelier that’s quietly been making waves and gathering momentum within the fashion crowd, calling LuisaViaRoma, Net-a-Porter, Selfridges and Revolve among its stockists.
Loved for its contemporary and minimal aesthetic — think fine silk trousers teamed with chunky knits, sharp tailoring set against flowing pieces, and sculptural outerwear. Here, the detail is in the cut and the quality of the fabrics, with the founders drawing upon photography, art and architecture as their reference points, and channeling them into their designs.
Marieke Meulendijks talks us through her brand and atelier where art, craft, and style collide.
Felicity Carter: What was your first memory of style?
Marieke Meulendijks: My first memory of style was reading Vogue magazines at kiosks when I was 15 years old.
FC: How, when, why did you get into the industry?
MM: I studied fashion and textile at the fashion academy of Amsterdam. Right after my graduation, at the age of 21, I began working in the fashion industry. I was so lucky to be able to travel the world and learn about the different disciplines within fashion. Along this journey, I met incredible people and built a strong network, which has become the foundation for building Róhe.
FC: How would you sum up the aesthetic of Rohe?
MM: A redefinition of tailoring and elevated minimalism. We are often inspired by a harmonious blend of historical and contemporary elements. We want to create a personal garderobe that transcends seasons, with each piece seamlessly complementing the existing collection. Róhe focuses on an unexpected edge, exceptional Italian fabrics, and uncompromising quality. We curate spaces and collections that reflect our commitment to timeless design, exceptional craftsmanship, and a deep appreciation for art and culture.
FC: What is luxury to you?
MM: Luxury, to me, is the perfect construction and fit of a garment through research, mannequin draping, fabric innovation and patternmaking. It is expertise and craftsmanship visible in each and every piece of the collection, contributing to the longevity of timeless and modern garments.
FC: Who is your customer?
MM: Everyone who has a deep appreciation for art, architecture, literature, and interior design embodies an independent and intelligent spirit. Each piece in their wardrobe is thoughtfully chosen to align with their authentic purpose. Róhe can be for anyone who wants to be quietly confident. I, for example, am a rather shy person, so for me it is important that clothes give me a sense of calm empowerment.
FC: What are the cornerstones of your company?
MM: Craftsmanship, timeless design and innovation are at the heart of Róhe. We value working with high-quality, responsibly sourced fabrics and family-run ateliers with generations of expertise. Our world is built on quiet confidence and unexpected details, where design and curation go hand in hand.
FC: What was on the mood board for your AW25 collection?
MM: The collection is built around a fascination of the forest, its mystery, beauty, and the sublime forces of nature, its perfections and imperfections. It serves as a setting of exploration, reflection and transformation. The dense canopy of trees, the rustling of leaves, and the interplay of light and shadow that evoke mood and emotions.
FC: Tell us what we can expect from the collection?
MM: The Winter 2025 collection continues Pre-Fall’s exploration of moving away from the city and reconnecting with life in the countryside. It’s a study of contrasts: storm and stillness, function and poetry, formal structure and organic drape. Textures are rich and tactile, reflecting both the imperfections and beauty of nature. The color palette draws from the forest — deep greens, burgundy, grey, mahogany, and sage. Shapes explore the hourglass silhouette and fluid, organic drapes, while materials center on wool and other richly textured fabrics.

FC: Which is your favorite piece from the AW collection and how do you wear/style it up?
MM: My personal favorite is the hourglass blazer in dark grey mélange, a great combination with our relaxed corduroy trousers in the new sage color. I love to dress up and dress down in one single look.
FC: What’s the best piece of advice that you’ve been given when it comes to handling the industry?
MM: Allow space for mistakes and move at a deliberate pace, especially in a world where everything moves so fast. Also following your heart and intuition has really been my life-saver!
