In just a few weeks, Tron: Ares will arrive in theaters throughout the United States. The latest entry in the sci-fi franchise comes with a soundtrack helmed by Nine Inch Nails, with Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross lending their names to the project under the band’s moniker for the first time. The pair have scored films before — even winning several Academy Awards for their work — but never as Nine Inch Nails.
Ahead of the movie’s release, only one track has so far been shared, and it’s already a big win in the United Kingdom.
“As Alive As You Need Me to Be” Opens at No. 1 – Twice
“As Alive As You Need Me to Be” finds space on three U.K. charts this frame, and it starts at the very top on two of them. The cut debuts at No. 1 on both the Official Physical Singles and the Official Vinyl Singles lists. These are firsts, as Nine Inch Nails had never managed a leader on either tally until now.
First-Time Wins for Nine Inch Nails
By opening atop the vinyl list, Nine Inch Nails also earns its first top 10 on those tallies. Over on the physical singles roster, “As Alive As You Need Me to Be” grants the group a third career top 10. The band’s previous best on that ranking came with “The Hand That Feeds,” which peaked at No. 6. Another song, “Survivalism,” stalled at No. 7.
A New Career High Point on the Sales Chart
Beyond its pair of No. 1s, “As Alive As You Need Me to Be” also reappears on the Official Singles Sales chart. The track jumps back onto the tally at No. 12, a new peak for the composition on the general sales ranking in the U.K. – and it’s a new best placement for the band as well.
“As Alive As You Need Me to Be” first appeared on the Official Singles Sales chart back in late July, debuting at No. 76 before falling away. Now, weeks later, the song is back — and it’s far bigger than it was during its initial run.
