Celebrities — they’re just like us! Well, except when they’re flying private, lounging on yachts, selling $20 custom smoothies, or getting $500 salmon sperm facials. The Kardashians, in particular, are known for their relentless obsession with beauty and youth. Kim Kardashian once famously told The New York Times in 2022, “If you told me that I literally had to eat poop every single day and I would look younger, I might.” And on an episode of The Kardashians, she confessed to her mom, Kris Jenner, “I got a salmon sperm facial with salmon sperm injected into my face.” So naturally, I had try it too.
Channeling my inner Kim Kardashian—and driven by an insatiable desire to look like I’ve never worked a day in my life—writer Lizzie Scheader and I headed to JTAV Clinical Skincare in Soho, where I was about to spend the next hour with what I assumed would be salmon sperm on my face.
What is it?
Salmon sperm, or PDRN, is known for its ability to deeply penetrate the skin without compromising the skin barrier or requiring downtime, delivering visible improvements in lifting, toning, and hydration. It works by stimulating cellular-level tissue regeneration, which enhances skin radiance, firmness, and overall quality.
At JTAV Clinical Skincare, they specialize in the Préime DermaFacial, which differs from the more well-known injectable versions of the salmon sperm facial. Here, the treatment remains topical and penetrates the skin via ultrasound. According to esthetician Joie Tavernise, “Most facials focus on surface-level hydration. The Préime DermaFacial takes things further by using advanced ultrasound technology to infuse salmon sperm DNA deep into the skin.” She adds, “This powerful ingredient works at a cellular level to repair damage, boost rejuvenation, and restore smoothness, radiance, and refined texture.”
Unlike the traditional salmon sperm facials commonly performed in Korea and other parts of Asia using injectables, the U.S. takes a different approach. “Salmon sperm DNA isn’t FDA-approved for injectable use in the United States,” explains Tavernise. “Instead, the Préime DermaFacial delivers it through a non-invasive infusion method—no needles involved.” She adds, “This approach gives clients the visible benefits of salmon sperm DNA without the downtime or discomfort that comes with injections.”
What Do They Offer?
Ranging from $450 to $650, this treatment is designed as a five-in-one powerhouse. It includes exfoliation to resurface and smooth the skin, oxygenation to boost circulation and glow, microcurrent to tone and firm facial muscles, radiofrequency to stimulate collagen and tighten skin, and ultrasound infusion to push salmon sperm DNA deeper for optimal absorption and results.

Is It Worth it: Yes, but..
Tiana Randall: Upon entering and being greeted by writer Lizzie Scheader, who had just finished her facial, I immediately noticed the smoothness and glow of her skin. In contrast, I came into my session with a few breakouts and a general awareness of my sensitive skin. After doom-scrolling through TikTok horror stories about this facial, I was fully prepared to leave red, swollen, and highly irritated.
And yet—yes, it’s worth it. But in my opinion, only if you’re older or have more mature skin.
What I noticed within just 1-2 days was that my fine lines and light wrinkles visibly softened, and my complexion looked noticeably more radiant and youthful. My smile lines, which have only deepened as I’ve grown well into my 20s, have long been a point of insecurity, and within the first week, they were significantly reduced, almost gone. I also noticed improved elasticity; my skin felt bouncier, smoother, and began to develop a subtle glass-like quality, while signs of irritation and breakouts gradually faded.
What initially drew me to the salmon sperm facial was the promise of scar reduction and discoloration, something I was eager to test. Unfortunately, in that area, I didn’t see much of a difference—my scarring remained mostly unchanged. That said, the esthetician who performed the treatment was extremely attentive. She made the entire experience feel thoughtful and personalized, taking time to explain each step, ask questions, and move through the treatment at a pace that felt both thorough and calming.
Could you find a different facial with similar results for less? Definitely. But if your skin is showing signs of aging—whether from time, stress, or even smoking, this treatment may very well be worth the investment.
Lizzie Scheader: Going into this facial, my knowledge of salmon sperm’s use in skincare was quite limited, but I was explained the entire treatment from start to finish. We were able to discuss daily skincare routines, and the benefits of implementing a regular facial, which was exciting to hear, considering this was my first time using JTAV’s products. The treatment began with cleansing, followed by dermabrasion, which was my favorite part. Tavernise was so insightful as we moved through each portion of the treatment, answering any questions I had. The salmon sperm specifically left me absolutely glowing, to the point where I was stopped on the street, and was asked what products I use. I felt relaxed and rejuvenated the entire day, and my skin looked incredible for about a week.
I would say this treatment would be worth it if you had a special event coming up, like a wedding, where you want something that’s noninvasive with instant results. Overall, this was beyond my expectations, and I would definitely recommend this space, as I plan on returning again in the future.
