Uniqlo just got a chic glow-up. The Fast Retailing Co., a global apparel giant, has named the Academy Award-, BAFTA-, and Golden Globe-winning actor Cate Blanchett as its latest and arguably most glamorous global brand ambassador. Ostensibly bringing former Chloé and Givenchy creative director Clare Waight Keller on board in 2024 was a part of the move. (Waight Keller has had a long-standing relationship with Blanchett, dressing her in Givenchy and admiring her style and humanitarian work.)
For Blanchett it’s also an expansion of her ambassador roles; she currently holds one at Giorgio Armani Beauty, a Goodwill Ambassador at UNHRC and member of the Earthshot Prize Council, an organization aimed at fixing an ailing planet Earth Blanchett joins other Uniqlo global brand ambassadors such as Tennis’s Roger Federer, Golf’s Adam Scott, and Wheelchair Tennis players Shingo Kunieda and Gordon Reid MBE. The Australian Hollywood star will also front the brand’s Fall 2025 LifeWear magazine issue.
In her role, Blanchett will work alongside the brand to advance its LifeWear philosophy, emphasizing the continuous pursuit of excellence, humanitarian and next-generation support, and positive contribution to society worldwide, according to a company release.
“Ms. Blanchett is among the greatest actors of her generation—on stage and on screen. But our admiration goes beyond entertainment. Her passion and engagement are evident in her contributions as a role model for women, her mentorship of emerging film and theatre artists, and her long-standing commitment to humanitarian and environmental causes. Through our partnership, we will work together to make positive changes in the world around us,” said Tadashi Yanai, Uniqlo Founder and Chairman, President & CEO of Fast Retailing.
In a statement, Blanchett said, “I value the ambition of Uniqlo to make life better through its LifeWear apparel: timeless design, perfected simplicity, affordable, accessible, quality clothing that lasts. I am energized by the opportunity to help Uniqlo advance important aspects of its LifeWear philosophy, supporting the next generation, playing a part in highlighting and combating the ongoing global displacement crisis, giving back to communities, and finding meaningful ways to contribute to a more equitable world. On top of that, to creatively reconnect with Clare Waight Keller and to be in dialogue with Uniqlo Global Brand Ambassador, Roger Federer, is a privilege indeed.”
Further marking the partnership is the latest issue of the brand’s LifeWear magazine. This free periodical focuses on the brand’s philosophy of making everyday life better and more comfortable for everyone and is distributed in its stores.
Themed “Revisiting Classic,” the issue features Blanchett in the main feature, “Hello, Cate” introducing the actor via a Q&A with Waight Keller and styled in the brand’s Uniqlo C: Collection. Other features include a Pufftech layering story, a fashion spread featuring influencer @lare_bsmm and spread shot on location in Woodstock, NY featuring weekend style staples.
