Awake has launched the Sơn Mài Frosted Leaf collection, a series of three watches that connect Vietnamese lacquer artistry with modern Swiss watchmaking. Limited to 50 pieces per dial color, the collection draws inspiration from satellite views of Earth, evoking oceans, forests, and fertile ground through textured, layered dials.
Each dial is handcrafted in Hanoi using an exclusive technique developed for this collection, combining sơn mài lacquer with pure silver leaf and natural pigments. The process requires around 15 hours of work for each dial, creating unique patterns and frosted reflections. Three variations are offered: Mocha, symbolizing the earth and its roots; Blue, recalling open skies and water; and Green, representing vegetation and balance.
Awake’s luminous “cap” signature is featured on all models, delivering a subtle glow inspired by Japanese chiaroscuro. The faceted hands and markers are filled with Super-LumiNova BGW9 for clear readability while preserving the organic character of the dial. Inside is the automatic La Joux-Perret G101 movement, known for its 68-hour power reserve and robust tungsten rotor designed exclusively for Awake. The 39 mm case is made from recycled 316L stainless steel, with 50 meters of water resistance, sapphire crystal, and a transparent screw-down caseback.
Each watch is paired with a light gray nubuck strap made by Delugs and lined in rubber for durability and comfort. The Sơn Mài Frosted Leaf watches are priced at €2,150 before tax and limited to 50 pieces for each dial color.
