The latest Hollywood release, Jurassic World Rebirth, is the top-scoring film worldwide for its debut weekend and has scored nearly $6 million in India alone. Globally, Jurassic World Rebirth crossed $300 million. Meanwhile, the new Hindi film – Metro In Dino – failed to rank among globally top-scoring films. The Punjabi film, Sardaarji 3 made it among top-scoring films for the weekend in the US in its second weekend at the box office.
Jurassic World Rebirth topped Comscore’s weekly list of highest-grossing films worldwide for the weekend ending July 6. It is the latest film from the franchise which began in 1993 with Steven Speilberg’s Jurassic Park.

Anurag Basu’s second film in his Metro.. franchise could not make it to Comscore’s list of top ten grossers worldwide, but Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaarji 3 managed to rank among the top-scoring films in the US markets for the weekend ending July 6. The Punjabi film released last week in theatres and is enjoying the second week at the global box office.
Jurassic World Rebirth Scores Better Than Metro In Dino In India
Gareth Edwards’ Jurassic World Rebirth not only scored the highest box office numbers for the weekend worldwide and the US, but also emerged as the winner in Indian markets. The film featuring Mahershala Ali, Scarlet Johansson and Jonathan Bailey, grossed $5.8 million in the India markets alone.
The film made an opening collection of more than $1.3 million on Friday at the Indian ticket windows. The collections saw a sharp rise over the weekend. It scored a two-day total of $3 million and closed the first weekend above $5 million at the Indian box office.
Written by David Koepp, Jurassic World Rebirth is a standalone sequel to Jurassic World Dominion (2022) from the Jurassic World franchise. It marks the seventh installment from the Jurassic Park universe. Gareth Edwards’s film is the fourth Jurassic World movie and stars Jonathan Bailey, Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Ed Skrein and Rupert Friend, along with Ali and Johansson.
Metro In Dino Closes First Weekend at $2.2 million
The latest Bollywood release, Metro In Dino, had a decent start at the box office, earning a little above $500,000 in the Indian markets. Globally, the film remained below $700,000 on July 4, Friday.
The box office performance of Metro In Dino picked up slightly over the weekend, but the raise was not steep enough to keep pace with the Hollywood release (Jurassic World Rebirth). It added another $700,000 on the second day to score $1.2 million in two days at the Indian box office. The emotional drama closed the first weekend above $2 million. Globally, Metro In Dino grossed less than $4 million in three days at the ticket windows.
Directed by Anurag Basu, Metro… In Dino features Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Anupam Kher, Ali Fazal, Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, and Fatima Sana Shaikh. Made on an estimated budget of $9.5 million, the film explores the frailties of human relationships in the current age of fast life and the consequent loneliness.
Sardaarji 3 poses tough competition for Metro In Dino at global box office
Amid controversies surrounding the involvement of Pakistani actor Hania Aamir, Diljit Dosanjh’s Sardaarji 3 failed to get a theatrical release in India when it released on June 27. The Punjabi film, nonetheless, is scoring big at the global box office. In its second weekend alone, it grossed better than the new Hindi release Metro In Dino in the US markets.
The horror-comedy grossed almost $3.9 million in its first week at the global box office. Sardaarji 3 scored an impressive $2.7 million in the second weekend, closing the tenth day at more than $6 million worldwide. In the US markets, it scored a little above $750,000, making it as eleventh highest-grossing film for the second weekend. It was made on an estimated budget of $4 million.
