Anthony Mackie Gets A New Captain America Suit For Captain America: Brave New World
Anthony Mackie, of course, joined the MCU as Sam Wilson/The Falcon opposite Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers/Captain America in 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. However, in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame, Steve handed Cap’s shield over to Sam to become the new Captain America.
Sam then made the transition from The Falcon to Captain America in the 2021 Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, while Danny Ramirez took up the mantle of The Falcon.
In Captain America: Brave New World, Sam fully embraces the mantle of Captain America, and he has a new suit, too.
“It’s a high-tech suit,” Mackie told attendees of the APAC Content Showcase in Singapore in November of 2024 (via Deadline). “I went to Wakanda, met with everybody in Wakanda, we had dinner. It was a great time. They threw me a welcome party. It was dope. But when I was leaving, they gave me a suit, right? I put it on. I can kick harder, I can fly faster, and it gives me the ability to be more agile in my skills, so it’s taking all my skills to a completely different level.”
Captain America: Brave New World to date has earned nearly $200.5 million domestically and $214.5 million internationally for a worldwide box office gross of $415 million against a $180 million production budget before prints and advertising, per The Numbers reported.
The film earned a 48% “rotten” rating from Rotten Tomatoes critics based on 340 reviews, while audiences gave it a 78% “fresh” score on RT’s Popcornmeter based on 10,000-plus verified user ratings.
Captain America: Brave New World arrives on Disney+ on May 28.
