Tina Turner’s run of hits during the 1980s was one of the most successful of any musical artist in the world. She delivered smash after smash, and many of those cuts are still beloved today. Some were original compositions, while others — true to her style throughout her career — were reinterpretations of tracks first made popular by other musicians, as only Turner could.
One such tune, “The Best,” has returned to the spotlight. Fans of the late superstar have turned the hit single into a bestseller once again in the United Kingdom, making this a busy period for Turner’s discography, as she sees multiple tracks land on the tallies.
Tina Turner’s “The Best”
“The Best” is now back among the top-selling tracks in the U.K. This week, the tune appears on two rankings that focus exclusively on purchases. It returns at No. 76 on the Official Singles Downloads chart and at No. 81 on the Official Singles Sales list.
“The Best” Was Tina Turner’s First Hit
“The Best” earned Turner her first-ever placement on the Official Singles Downloads chart when it debuted in May 2010. It also marked her second appearance on the Official Singles Sales list, following her collaboration with Kygo, as they two worked on a remake of her hugely successful “What’s Love Got to Do With It.”
Turner’s “The Best” has previously climbed into the top 10 on both rankings, and it’s only spent about two months or so on the lists, spread out across the years.
“Hot for You Baby” Debuts
This frame is especially significant for Turner, as she posthumously scores a new hit on both U.K. rankings. “Hot for You Baby,” a track that was originally recorded during the sessions for her Private Dancer album, has finally become a commercial win. Released in early 2025 in the lead-up to the fortieth anniversary re-release of the album for which it was originally created, the tune officially becomes a hit in the U.K., entering the Official Singles Downloads chart at No. 91 and the Official Singles Sales ranking at No. 94.
Tina Turner’s “It’s Only Love” With Bryan Adams
Amazingly, even though she passed away in 2023 — less than two years ago — Turner currently claims a trio of hits in the U.K. In addition to both “The Best” and “Hot for You Baby,” her collaboration with Bryan Adams, “It’s Only Love,” earns another stay on the Official Physical Singles chart. This frame, it dips from its peak of No. 18 to No. 47.
