Realme has showcased a concept phone that packs a massive 10,000mAh battery and offers a glimpse in the future of smartphones. Recent advancements in battery technology have allowed phone makers to push capacities higher while keeping designs slim. Thanks to silicon-carbon batteries, we now have phones like the Realme GT 7 Pro (5,800mAh), OnePlus 13 (6,000mAh), and others with big batteries in surprisingly sleek bodies.
What started with a 5,100mAh silicon-carbon battery on the Honor Magic 5 Pro in 2023 is expected to reach 7,000mAh with the upcoming Realme GT 7. But ahead of its new flagship, Realme is once again flexing its battery innovation by packing a 10,000mAh battery into a phone that weighs as much as or even less than Apple’s iPhone 16 Pro Max.
The GT Concept Phone uses an ultra-high silicon-content anode battery with a 10% silicon ratio, which Realme claims is “the highest in the smartphone industry.” For context, this matches the 10% silicon ratio of OnePlus 13 and Honor Magic V3’s respective batteries. Its energy density of 887Wh/L also ranks among the highest in the smartphone space.
Realme redesigned the internal layout with what it calls “Mini Diamond Architecture” to house the 10,000mAh battery. The company claims its 23.4mm mainboard is the “world’s narrowest Android mainboard,” and is already backed by over 60 international patents. The prototype also sports a semi-transparent back, offering a peek at the battery and compact mainboard.
The best part about silicon-carbon batteries is they allow phone makers to squeeze in bigger batteries without ballooning the size, and this Realme concept is no different. It measures just under 8.5mm thick and is said to weigh “just over 200 grams.”
I haven’t held the device myself, but if Realme’s claims are accurate, it packs more than double the battery capacity of the iPhone 16 Pro Max without adding extra heft. For context, Apple’s biggest iPhone weighs 227 grams, while the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra comes in at 218 grams with a 5,000mAh battery. In comparison the Realme Concept phone has a bigger and faster charging battery but in a lighter form factor.
There’s no word yet on whether we’ll see a retail phone with a 10,000mAh battery, but Realme says its “upcoming GT 7 series will bring even more surprises and further reinforce Realme’s leadership in battery and performance innovation in the Indian smartphone market.”
