Jack Black is rising higher and higher on the charts all around the world week after week with a brand new smash — one few could have seen coming. The singer and actor is lifting steadily across a handful of Billboard rankings this frame thanks to a tune pulled from one of 2025’s biggest box office hits. A Minecraft Movie has quickly become one of the highest-grossing films of the year globally, and now its standout song, “Steve’s Lava Chicken,” helps Black notch another win.
“Steve’s Lava Chicken” Debuts Inside the Top 10
“Steve’s Lava Chicken” makes an immediate mark on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart this frame. The track, performed by Black himself, debuts at No. 6 on Billboard’s list of the bestselling rock-only tracks in the U.S. The strong start shows just how much fans are loving not only the film, but its playful musical moments as well.
Jack Black Earns One of the Top Debuts
Despite its impressive entrance, “Steve’s Lava Chicken” isn’t the highest-ranking new arrival on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart. This frame, Ghost’s “Lachryma” and Lana Del Rey’s “Henry, Come On” both manage even loftier starts, entering at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Still, Black comes in close behind, landing just ahead of Hardy’s “Buck on the Wall” at No. 7 and Fontaines D.C.’s “Starburster,” which bows at No. 8.
Jack Black Scores His First Solo Hit
The arrival of “Steve’s Lava Chicken” represents an important milestone for Black, as it’s his first solo appearance on the Rock Digital Song Sales ranking. As one-half of the Grammy-winning duo Tenacious D, he’s previously hit this tally, but only once. In March 2024, the band’s cheeky cover of Britney Spears’s “…Baby One More Time” debuted at No. 1. Now, just a little over a year later, he’s back, and this time, he’s flying solo.
“Steve’s Lava Chicken” Climbs on Multiple Rankings
While its big debut on the Rock Digital Song Sales chart is impressive, “Steve’s Lava Chicken” is also present on other Billboard tallies as well. The A Minecraft Movie smash jumps from No. 21 to No. 14 on the Hot Rock Songs list, and it also ascends from No. 27 to No. 19 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs tally. Those are new peaks for the title, which is reaches in just its second stint on the rosters.
