Singer Stevie Wonder’s former L.A. home could be Signed, Sealed, Delivered if you have a cool $15 million to spend. It’s also available for rent for $65,000 per month.
The legendary musician, who has won 25 Grammy Awards, lived in this Mediterranean-style residence in the L.A. suburb of Calabasas with his family from 2000 to 2012. He bought the estate in 2000 as a surprise for his now ex-wife, fashion designer Kai Milla-Morris. The singer initially fell in love with the home because of the acoustics. The couple raised their two children in the home, and although Wonder moved out after the pair divorced in 2012, Milla-Morris continued to live there until recently listing the property now that her two sons are grown. It was recently fully remodeled.
The nearly 2.8-acre property is located in the exclusive, gated community of Hidden Hills West and spans 11,120 square feet with six bedrooms and six bathrooms. The grand home is fronted by a lengthy gated private driveway that leads to a large motor court. Upon entering through the massive wooden pivot door, you’re greeted with a light-filled, double-height foyer and sweeping spiral staircase.
The modern home epitomizes serene California living, and through large windows and doors, every room offers a glimpse of the leafy property. On the main level there’s a chic family room with double-height ceilings, a sleek and an all-white living room with immediate access to the backyard. The main floor also has a gourmet chef’s kitchen with an oversized marble island crafted from book-matched marble, chevron parquet wood floors, and state-of-the-art appliances from Miele, Sub-Zero, and Wolf. There’s plenty of prep space for those who love to cook, eat-in dining at the end of the island, and a casual breakfast nook for quick everyday meals.
Off of the living room there’s an airy formal dining room that has statement ring-shaped lights. The room is lined with windows. Upstairs, the primary suite is larger than most people’s apartments and has a dual-sided fireplace that separates the sleeping quarters from a living room-sized seating area. A private balcony that runs nearly the length of the room overlooks the backyard, and the primary bathroom has a walk-in shower, steam room, and brand-new infrared sauna. There’s also a freestanding bathtub that, once again, overlooks the lush backyard. The impressive walk-in closet is perfect for fashionistas with plenty of clothing and accessories.
There’s a junior private suite with a living room and en suite bathroom, an upstairs office with a marble fireplace and chandelier wrapped in gold leaf, as well as additional bedrooms. The lower level has a piano room with a fireplace, grand piano, and seating area. There’s another guest bedroom here, which has a butler’s kitchen. There’s still access to the backyard from this level, which includes a beautiful custom pool, landscaped gardens, and plenty of lawn space.
Outside, there’s a custom pool and immaculately landscaped gardens. The highly secure home is the ultimate oasis in one of L.A.’s most prestigious gated neighborhoods.
