Google showcased Gemini Live’s screen-sharing capabilities at Google I/O 2024. The Project Astra feature is now finally rolling out to the Google Pixel 9 series and Samsung Galaxy S25 devices for free. The new Gemini Live camera and screen-sharing features allow you to have a conversational AI chatbot answer questions about what you’re looking at in real-time.
In a blog post, Google outlined five examples to demonstrate the use cases of Gemini Live’s new features. For instance, you can point your camera at a cluttered closet or messy drawer and ask Gemini for suggestions on how to organize it by categorizing items and maximizing space. You can also ask it to identify items that can be discarded or donated. Gemini Live offers visual guidance in real-time as you declutter.
Like most AI features in 2025, one of Gemini Live’s key use cases is helping you brainstorm ideas. You can share your screen and show photos to Gemini that inspire you—such as your favorite locations or the colors of a bustling market—and ask it to suggest ideas for designs, creative writing, or even craft projects.
You can also use it to troubleshoot everyday problems, like a glitching record player or a squeaky chair. Once you point your camera at the issue, Gemini Live can help devise a plan to fix it. It can even provide feedback on your work—analyzing content, identifying areas for improvement, and offering personalized recommendations for things like social media campaigns, blog posts, and more.
Additionally, if you share your screen with Gemini Live while shopping online, it can act as a personal shopping assistant, offering comparisons and recommendations tailored to your style. For example, you can show Gemini specific items and ask what would complement them by pointing your camera at your wardrobe.
Google’s Gemini Live is designed to facilitate natural, free-flowing conversations. It’s now available in 45 languages across select countries. It’ll soon be available on other Android devices through a paid Gemini Advanced subscription.
