Billboard only introduced the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart about a month ago, and since then, early adopters have been racking up smashes. The ranking lists the most popular tracks in America that blend those two styles, and many the stars that have reached it rank among the most successful in the pop space.
In only the first few weeks that the company has been publishing the Hot Dance/Pop Songs list, just a handful of K-pop acts have landed on the tally. So far, all of them have been soloists, and this week sees one of those musicians become the first to accrue more than a single smash.
Lisa’s New Billboard Hits
Lisa debuts a pair of tracks on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs ranking this time around. Both come from her newly-released solo album Alter Ego. As they arrive, she breaks out of a tie with one of her bandmates and several other powerhouses from that part of the world for a special honor.
Both of the Blackpink singer’s new tunes open in the lowest two rungs on this week’s Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart. “Moonlit Floor ,” one of Alter Ego’s singles that was released weeks ago, kicks off its time at No. 14. At the same time, “Chill” launches in last place, at No. 15.
Lisa’s History on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs Chart
Throughout just the past month, Lisa has scored a trio of wins on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart. Her collaboration with Doja Cat and Raye, titled “Born Again,” once peaked at No. 2. This frame, it’s fourth on the tally, it ascends from No. 8 to No. 5, thanks to all the excitement around Alter Ego. At the moment, all three of Lisa’s hits on this list make space for other K-pop solo acts who have landed on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs ranking.
Jennie, G-Dragon, and Other K-Pop Stars
Fellow Blackpink star Jennie brought Doechii to the list with “Extra L.” That tune, taken from her solo full-length Ruby, is now up to a pair of frames on the roster, and has thus far climbed to No. 6.
BigBang members G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung were the first South Korean artists to appear on the newly introduced tally. Their collaborative cut, “Home Sweet Home,” only spent one turn at No. 15, but they’re still included in this very special roundup.
Lisa’s Historic List of Smashes
Lisa claims the most hits among all K-pop acts in the short history of the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart. Before her two Alter Ego tunes arrived, she was matched with Jennie, G-Dragon, Taeyang, and Daesung, with one apiece. Now, she’s in a fairly distant first place.
While much of her work counts as K-pop, Lisa is not actually from South Korea – at least not originally. She was born in Thailand, where she remains a superstar. After finding a global audience as part of Blackpink, one of the most successful K-pop groups of all time, she branched out, and has been winning on her own with a mix of pop and hip-hop tunes.
