FC Barcelona outcast Vitor Roque has made a decision on his future amid rumors he could leave the club on loan according to SPORT, which cited anonymous sources.
The Brazilian teenager arrived in Catalonia to great fanfare at the turn of 2024, with cash-strapped Barca finding the means to agree a transfer with Athletico Paranaense which could be worth north of $60 million if he fulfils his undoubted potential.
With the season drawing to a close, however, Vitor Roque has managed to accumulate just 310 minutes across all competitions while failing to make it off the bench at all in Barca’s doomed Champions League campaign brought to a crushing, abrupt end by Paris Saint-German in the quarterfinal last week.
Vitor Roque’s agent Andre Cury, who was fundamental in bringing Neymar to Camp Nou and used to be Barca’s eyes in Brazil, confirmed to RAC1 that his client has no end of offers to leave.
“At the moment there is a queue of clubs that would be willing to sign him for €50 million ($54 million),” Cury said.
“Barca has only paid €10 million ($10.8 million), so it would be a worthwhile operation. With three operations like this they [will have] solved their financial problems.”
“Barca pays €5 million ($5.4 million) every six months until he reaches €30 million fixed. And to meet all the variables, Vitor should be a starter.
“If he is a starter at Barca at 20 years old, his price tag would be €200 million ($216 million) for sure,” Cury then boldly predicted.
Ahead of the weekend and Barca’s home fixture against Valencia on Monday, there have been increased reports that Vitor Roque might head out on loan with his path to the first team blocked by Robert Lewandowski and, to an extent, Marc Guiu.
According to SPORT, however, Vitor Roque has no intention of heading out elsewhere.
Focused on becoming a success at one of the world’s biggest clubs, the Brazil international doesn’t believe interrupting his adaptation makes sense, and that a full preseason could also boost his chances of making it into the starting XI next term.
