DMX’s name appears on six Billboard charts this week. That’s unusual, given the fact that the rapper passed away back in 2021. The hip-hop talent doesn’t have some past single or old album to thank for his current presence on the weekly rankings, but rather a new smash–and a very unlikely one.
Rock band Five Finger Death Punch included DMX’s vocals on their new single “This Is The Way,” which is brand new to six tallies. The tune brings the rapper to all of those lists for the first time, giving him a very important posthumous win.
“This Is The Way” opens highest on the Hard Rock Digital Song Sales chart. On that list, which ranks only those tunes classified by Billboard as hard rock that actually sold the most copies in the past tracking period, the single opens at No. 1. According to Luminate, the tune sold 1,546 copies.
DMX and Five Finger Death Punch also reach the top 10 on two other Billboard charts this week with their unexpected collaboration. “This Is The Way” opens at No. 4 on the Hot Hard Rock Songs ranking and No. 8 on the Rock Digital Song Sales list.
“This Is The Way” also becomes a quick radio hit, if a minor one to start. The single launches at No. 19 on the Mainstream Rock Airplay chart this frame. It’s also new to the Rock & Alternative Airplay roster at No. 22.
Finally, the same cut blasts onto the most important of Billboard’s rock-focused lists, the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs ranking. On that tally, “This Is The Way” is new at No. 47.
“This Is The Way” is the latest single taken from Five Finger Death Punch’s 2022 album AfterLife. The set was expanded to include new tracks as part of a deluxe edition, which dropped earlier this month. The DMX tune is a mashup, of sorts, between music from both acts, and clearly fans of the hard rockers are into the cut.
