Chris Stapleton rocked the stage as the musical guest on last night’s (April 13) episode of Saturday Night Live. The country superstar delivered not only one, but two excellent and powerful performances. In the hours following his appearance, many of his tunes experienced a surge in sales on iTunes, especially the pair he decided to showcase.
The Grammy-winning artist claims five spots inside the top 100 on iTunes’ ranking of the bestselling songs in the United States. Almost all of these tunes are climbing in the wake of his performances, with one track seemingly being highlighted for the first time.
Stapleton’s “White Horse” galloped into the top 10 on the iTunes chart following Saturday Night Live. At the time of writing, the song had reached No. 6 on the list. This marked a significant leap of more than 50 spaces, as a huge population rushed to buy the song after watching him sing it on TV.
While Stapleton enjoys success with “White Horse,” his most recent single release, “Oh Well,” begins to fall. The collaboration with rocker Slash slips outside the top 10 after initially reaching the highest tier on the sales tally shortly after its release on Friday (April 12).
Further down on the iTunes chart, two of Stapleton’s past hits are also enjoying surges. “Tennessee Whiskey,” arguably one of his biggest commercial successes, soars to No. 44, climbing more than 40 spaces. Now far below, “Weight of Your World” settles at No. 47 after climbing nearly 20 positions at once.
“Mountains Of My Mind,” one of the songs Stapleton performed on Saturday Night Live, appears on the iTunes chart at No. 53. The sudden popularity of this track, after not being present on the chart recently, is not surprising given its exposure on the show.
Stapleton might be considering “Mountains Of My Mind” as a potential single following his late-night performance. The track, featured on his latest album, Higher Ground, has yet to be chosen for full promotional support. Now, with its sudden popularity following his SNL appearance, it may receive the attention it deserves.
