Via Cadena SER, a Real Madrid legend has warned that Kylian Mbappe could pose a disruptive influence at the Bernabeu which “breaks” the atmosphere in its locker room.
The scorer of the winning goal in the 1998 Champions League final against Juventus, Predrag Mijatovic is often vocal on matters pertaining to his former club.
He recently spoke on Vinicius Jr. putting his team’s chances of advancing in the tournament at risk thanks to his conduct in a last 16 second leg clash with RB Leipzig, and has now been asked to give his two cents about the potential arrival of Mbappe to Los Blancos.
Mbappe becomes a free agent on June 30. And after telling Paris Saint-Germain that he won’t renew his contract according to The Athletic, he is expected to finally join the La Liga leaders after two false dawns in 2017 and 2022.
FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta recently revealed he doesn’t “envy” his counterpart rival Florentino Perez for inheriting Mbappe, and Mijatovic might agree with the Catalan to some extent.
“I’m sure they’ll all start pre-season and then the summer will be long. Also, looking at Florentino’s history as president, he has never had a problem selling players. Figo, Hierro, Raul, [Iker] Casillas, [Sergio] Ramos left… A lot of players who maybe were non-transferable. This is Real Madrid,” Mijatovic began.
“Having six top players, for a coach that’s a lot of headaches. That can break the atmosphere of the locker room a little bit. Everyone thinks they have to play, so it’s very complicated,” added Mijatovic.
One star who is predicted to have difficulties if and when Mbappe turns up is Rodrygo.
With Vinicius Jr. out suspended, Rodrygo played excellently on his usual left wing and scored both goals in a 2-0 home win over Athletic Club on Sunday.
The Brazilian said that Mbappe’s transfer appears “close” and that there are “a lot of us” when it comes to attacking talent at Carlo Ancelotti’s disposal.
If Mijatovic has anything to do with it, however, the versatile 23-year-old would stick around in the Spanish capital amid a report from El Nacional linking him with a move to replace Mohamed Salah at Liverpool.
“I love this kid, he’s a very complete player. On the left he is much better, but he also does interesting things in the other positions. He’s a player with a lot of quality and the goals look easy, but they’re brilliant,” Mijatovic said.
