Cardi B‘s long-awaited sophomore album is on its way, and the Grammy-winning rapper has been teasing her comeback for some time now. Earlier this month, she signaled she was ready to hit the ground running with her “Like What” freestyle, and now she’s seemingly on the doorstep of her next era with the new single “Enough (Miami).”
The Bronx-bred rapper’s braggadocio is on full display throughout the track. “Opps linkin’ up, I’m like, ‘What in the f**k?’ / If you scared then just say that, h*e, enough is enough / They was just in my DMs, ain’t no trustin’ these s**ts / I’m about to call up Diamond, b***h, knuck if you buck,” she raps on the chorus.
When speaking about her next steps, Cardi insisted the next time fans will hear from her will be when it’s time to announce the album. “I dropped a little freestyle and everything, y’know, just to wet my feet,” she said, according to Billboard. “I’m dropping this single [“Enough (Miami)”], and the next announcement is not going to be a single, it’s going to be an album.”
“I’m back outside,” she added. “I’m tired of s**t holding me back. It’s been six years since I’ve dropped an album, so I’m gonna drop an album this year.”
While many have been clamoring for a new project from the rapper ever since her Grammy-winning debut Invasion of Privacy dropped in 2018, Cardi has been taking things slow.
“Everyone always tells me I should put the record out now,” she told Vogue México last year. “They did when I released ‘WAP’ [in 2020] and when I released ‘Up’ [in 2021] but I always let them know I’m not going to wait long after all these singles. So stay tuned because it’s coming out very soon.”
