A series of inviting new hotels are making their debut across Greece ahead of the 2024 summer months.
One&Only Kéa Island
The highly anticipated One&Only Kea Island is now on track to welcoming its first guests in May. Occupying a 65-hectare beachfront site on the west side of Kéa Island in the Cyclades, this luxury hideaway promises a sense of seclusion, while still only being a short journey by boat from Athens. The standalone villas of this retreat, all with private pools, combine light-filled contemporary interiors—featuring wood, marble and touches of blue—with uninterrupted views out to sea and across the coastline from their position in the rugged cliffside. Local produce from the land and sea will be brought into the dishes of this property’s all-day dining area and Greek-inspired Taverna, with a beach club, lobby lounge, speakeasy and pool bar also featuring among its vibrant social areas. A curated collection of adventures will take you into the surrounding landscape, on hiking, cycling and cultural excursions, and out on the water, with scuba diving also catered for.
King Jason Zante
On Zakynthos, the June opening adults-only King Jason Zante resort will embrace the art of slow living in modern architectural space paying tribute to the power of water. Here, standalone overwater suites reflect the inspiration that’s been taken from the surrounding landscape through their design. Eastern Mediterranean Levantine cuisine will be offered in dishes made for sharing at restaurant Haroūb, and Peruvian fusion fare will be the focus at Pisco. The resort’s slow living philosophy will be epitomised at Purai Spa where a slowness coach will guide guests in discovering their own slower pace through activities such as morning meditation in the olive groves, tea rituals and yoga. The resort invites guests to embrace slow living through a guest experience connecting you with the island’s natural beauty.
Domes Novos Santorini
Domes Resorts is making its debut in Santorini this spring with the April opening of Domes Novos Santorini. Kiros Pagkalidis Architects has led the design of this retreat fusing Cycladic artistry with modern style and using local natural materials like volcanic stone and blonde oak. Here, 50 suites and two villas (all with pools) built amid the olive trees are joined by resort’s rooftop restaurant, Topos, serving the farm-to-table neo-Greek cuisine of Chef Dionysios Pliatsikas, and Domes’ signature SOMA Spa paying homage to the Greek take on ‘the art of living well,’ along with an indoor pool and state-of-the-art gym. The volcanic-infused spa treatments pay tribute to the landscape, and a deeper connection to Santorini is forged through experiences like visits to the nearby vineyards and immersive cooking classes.
Gundari
The five-star Gundari hotel is opening this May with the promise of providing wild, luxury seclusion through an all-suite property that surrounded by cliffs on the island of Folegandros, neighbouring Santorini. The hotel lies within 80 acres of natural landscape on the south-eastern coast of the island. Here, 25 suites and three villas, all with private infinity pools, will be set into the cliffside, overlooking the Aegean Sea. A cliff-edge pool with swim-up cocktail bar, farm-to-plate sea-view restaurant led by chef Lefteris Lazarou, and a cliffside subterranean spa drawing on traditions of the Ancient Greeks all feature within this island hideaway. The property is built with sustainability in mind, utilising subterranean, bioclimatic design, with the architectural studio Block722 taking inspiration from the natural environment.
Santo Mine Oia Suites
Opening this April, this all-suite luxury hotel is carved into the cliffs of Oia in Santorini, on the site of old stone mine that’s just a short walk from the heart of Oia, above Ammoudi Bay. Within this secluded retreat, 37 suites with Jacuzzis or private pools are positioned overlooking the Aegean Sea and decorated to reflect the island’s rugged landscape and Cycladic aesthetic. Each suite incorporates the materials, such as stone, ceramics, wood and marble, of local suppliers. They all come with carefully designed lighting that reduces the resort’s environmental impact and they are set apart further by their planted roofs. The adults-only property, ideally positioned for Santorini’s famous sunsets, will also be home to a restaurant and all-day bar, a wine cellar showcasing local as well as international wines, a spa and outdoor gym.
NUMO Mykonos
At the end-of-May-opening Numo Mykonos, the island aesthetic (known for its white-washed houses) is fused with design details giving a contemporary take on the 60s and 70s, overall embodying the spirit of the Cyclades. Within this space, pairing natural materials such as stone with playful elements like yellow and white striped fabrics, a collection of rooms and suites is joined by the restaurant ANEMOESSA serving the modern take on Mediterranean and local Mykonian cuisine of chef Nikos Kourkoutas, and the chic MÀRE MÀRE Pool Bar offering locally inspired cocktails amid an upbeat atmosphere. A modern sanctuary is found at Etherea Boutique Spa, where you’ll also find Ensoma Fitness Area, together promoting rejuvenation and holistic wellness.
Odera
The first luxury boutique hotel of its kind on the island of Tinos, the May-opening Odera lies in a secluded bay, with a private beach, amid dramatic landscape. Studio Bonarchi has designed the interiors of this property, housing 77 rooms and pool suites, to celebrate this island’s artisanship and traditions. Odera Residence provides the most elevated stay, with expansive living space and a private pool overlooking the Aegean Sea. During a stay, guests will be able to make the most of the holistic spa, which aims to mirror the unhurried pace of life on this rugged island, unwind at the onsite beach club, and dine on culinary creations utilising the local products. From here, excursions include hiking, fishing, village tours and marble carving workshops across Tinos, and the chance to rent the hotel’s private boat.
